Problem

I was nervous and jumpy for the rest of the class. Because I didn’t understood what Zach had meant. Also I was nervous for my talk with Mr. Browning mostly because of what we needed to talk about. But also because he looked so angry! When the bell finally rang, I jumped up from my chair. My sweet sweet friend Kara chose to laugh at me, so everyone’s eyes were on me! I started to blush and Kara looked guilty at me. I rolled my eyes at her, and looked over to Mr. Browning. He still looked angry, but he tried to smile at the students. When he looked at me, I felt my heart pumping in my chest, and I got so nervous! So I quickly looked down, and tried to slowly pick my things up from my table. I looked at Kara, she was already done, and was waiting for me.

“I need to talk to Mr. Browning, so you can just go Kara”

She looked at me with a knowing smile and said

“Yeah, okay, you just talk to him, and then call me! Alright?”

I just nodded, it wasn’t my plan, but if it got Kara to go and shut up, I would do it! She hurried out, so I looked to see if anyone was left in class, only one, Mr. Browning.

I walked slowly towards his table, and said

“You wanted to talk?”

He looked at me, like he didn’t understood what I was saying, but after some seconds, he understood, and said slowly

“Yeah, I wanted to talk with you..”

I looked expectantly at him, but he didn’t continued, so I started

“I made a mistake, and it won’t happen again, I promise that! And for the street racing? I won’t say anything! I promise that too.”

He looked shocked at me, and shortly after that, he started to laugh. I was confused. Wasn’t that he wanted to talk about? I looked confused at him, and after a minute or so, he stopped laughing, he saw my confused face, so he said

“You haven’t heard the rumor then?”

I was really confused know so I said

“What rumor?”

He started to laugh again, but it wasn’t a great laugh like before, but more dry and harsh

“That we are dating”

That statement got to me. I started to cough and I wheeze, and tried to say something, but I couldn’t say anything but

“What?!”

He smiled and said

“Yeah, I had the same feeling when I heard it”

I thought about it, and slowly I thought back at what Zach had said. I looked shocked at Mr. Browning, that’s why he was so angry? Not because I didn’t understand him, but at the same time it hurt to know he hated the thought of me and him dating. I said in a low voice

“So it was Zach that said that?”

He looked confused for a second, but then nodded. I looked down at my hands. I didn’t know how to react, because of course it was a lie, but how did Zach even think that Mr. Browning would think of me like that? I looked back at him and said

“So.. What shall we do?”

He looked at me for a second before he said

“We need to kill that rumor somehow, I don’t know how. But I will think of something.”
