HOW COULD YOU

I was being too impatient, I desperately wanted to see HIM, I tremendously needed to talk to HIM and I was least interested about the party for sure.

I walk out of the party hall into the lawn. After walking for sometime over the paved path I caught a glance of HIM, standing near the pool with his back towards me. Of course thats Manik, I need not see his face every time to recognise him. I walked towards him, yes today is the day. I need my answers Manik.

"Manik".... I whispered as I approached him.

He did not turn back at once, but then he did... after few moments.

This time I saw the same twinkling in his his eyes which was there months ago at that time. He started walking towards me. His eyes and that light curl on his lips took me back to those days of OUR'S. It seemed these twenty months never existed. The way his glances were touching my whole body and soul I could flushed my cheeks pink and I could definitely feel my goosebumps.

He was standing just in front of me mabe just few inches away. Our eyes were stuck on each other. I could see just myself in those dark chocolate black pupils of his. He was bending down at me and very soon our lips were hardly away from each other.

Suddenly I gained back my sense.

"Manik" I whispered.

Soon he looked away and stepped back. Okay what was he trying to do ?? Was he trying to kiss me ?? So does he still remember me ??

"How could you Manik" I uttered.

"Why whats the issue" he asked in a rather negligent tone.

"Issue ??? Like seriously you are actuall asking me this ??? Manik have u forgotten like EVERYTHING, Manik Malhotra let me remind u we were TOGETHER ONCE UPON A TIME Aand u say.... "

Before I could complete my sentence he said "Nandini, I know, I mean of course I remember we were like.... hmm..dating ONCE UPON A TIME, but we have already had our closure, I mean just move on Nandini, where are u still stuck", he let out a wierd laugh which definitely irritated me even more.

Dating ??? He said we were just dating???? He means I was just a random girl who he dated for sometime.

"Manik, what closure..." I was cut across by a sudden voice.

"Bae, u are here" the girl came running from back and hugged Manik tightly, he hugged her back.

I was standing there watching the duo with awe.

After breaking the hug Manik smiled at her. "Beautiful Alya, looking gorgeous as always, love u more" he exclaimed.

Wait!!! LOVE ??? Alya ?? I was stuck at "LOVE" still

"Baby, I am waiting for u inside at the party, come soon" the girl uttered in quite a sensual tone.

I don't know how am I feeling. I looke up at Manik expecting atleast some explaination from him.

" Yeah so life goes on Nandini" he said.

I was numb.

"Nandini, I hope u know u are here to work, so lets keep it that way, lets be professional and focus on our work" he narrated effortlessly and walked away.

I collapsed on the floor.

HOW COULD YOU MANIK MALHOTRA. Was this all about us. I swear never to fall in love again in my whole bloody life. You have moved on, even I can and I will for sure.

I got up and left the party and went straight to my apartment. I stood at the window and looked up at the starry sky and hoped for this never ending night to get over.
