Beep! Beep! Beep!
The sound of my alarm clock woke me up from the best dream ever. I had dreamed I was at the New Years Eve party tonight. I was having the best time with my best friend, Jessie, but I call her Jes. The party was at a boy named Drew's house. I had a small crush on him, well more like have.
Jes said," Yeah, more like a crush the size of Russia."
But anyways, we were at the party having a great time when Drew asked me out. Then my dumb alarm clock woke me up. I had to go get my hair done at 10 and I knew I wouldn't get up in time. I got out from underneath my covers. The cold air hit my skin like ice shards but I continued to get myself up. I went to my closet and picked out a slightly dark purple sweater and dark blue jeans. I looked through my shoes for my black boots then put them over my slightly thick white socks.
I walked out of my room still tired. I went to make a bowl of cereal. When my mom walked in she looked worried. "What's wrong, mom?" I asked.
"Nothing. Just feeling a little under the weather, I guess," she replied, " Why don't you ask Jessie if she can go get her hair done with you? Brittney is pretty flexible about more business."
Brittney is our hairdresser. She's been doing my hair since I've had enough to be cut.
When I finished breakfast, I brushed m hair and teeth then did my makeup. I don't know why I did my makeup when it's just going to be ruined before the party. When I was finished getting ready, I rode my bike to Jes's house. We lived in the same neighborhood and so does Drew so I guess that's a good thing. When I got to Jes's house I rang the doorbell.
"Chloe, what a pleasant surprise!" her mother said.
"Hi Mrs. Rogers! Is Jes up yet?" I asked.
"Yes, let me go get her," said Mrs. Rogers, "Jes! Chloe's here."
Before I could say anything else Jes was down the stairs right beside me, "Hi Chloe." Jes greets me.
"Hey Jes, do you want to go get your hair done with me?" I asked.
"Sure! Mom can I go?" Jes pleaded.
"It's ok with me. Do you need money?" Mrs. Rogers said.
"Yeah," Jes said.
"How much?"
"About $10-20?" Jes said.
After Jes got her money we left.
When we got outside, I was dying of laughter.
"What?" Jes asked confused.
"Look, hahaha...Down," I said.
"Oh shoot! I'm still in my PJs!" She ran back inside and came out wearing light blue jeans with a blue sweater; she also wore her black boots, "Sorry about that. Let's go!"
We got on our bikes and road to the hair salon. It wasn't busy but then again it never is. When we walked in Brittney greeted us, "Hello, Chloe. Jessie, come for a hairstyle too?"
"Yep." Jessie answered.
"Well sit down and we'll get right to it then."
Brittney curled our hair then brushed the curls out till they were light and bouncy at the bottom of our hair.
"Thanks Britney!" I said.
We paid her then went back to my house to get ready for Drew's party. We painted our nails and made sure there wasn't anything cuter I could wear. Then we redid our makeup. By the time we were done it was time to go to Drew's party.
"Bye mom," I yelled.
"Bye," she replied.
Jess and I rode the three-minute bike ride to Drew's house. We walked to the door and rang the doorbell.
"Hi Chloe, you look nice." Drew said shyly.
I blushed. "Hi Drew."
"Oh sorry, hello Jessie," Drew said.
"Hello Drew," we said in unison.
"Come on in!" He directed us.
Inside were lots of streamers and ribbons and lights flashing all around.
It was magnificent. I couldn't believe my eyes. It was amazing.
"Drew! Your place looks amazing." I said.
"Thanks," he replied blushing.
"Come with me Chloe." He took me my hand and led me through the small crowd.
"Where are we going?" I asked.
"We're almost there." Drew said.
I walked quietly, not saying a word. He led me to the kitchen where the refreshments were. There were tree other people: Andy, Charlie and Jacob: in the kitchen. They were Drew's closest friends. One look from drew it me and they knew to leave.
Once they were gone Drew looked at me as if he had a question to ask. Before I could say anything..."Do you need a drink? I know you rode your bike here so you must be thirsty." Drew blurted out.
"Water would be nice. Thanks," I said.
I took a few steps then looked around.
"So what did you want to show me?" I asked.
"Oh yeah," he said hitting a button on the side of the counter. A door slid open.
""You can put your coat in here but that's not what I wanted to show you."
I put my jacket in the closet and followed him out of the kitchen. He opened the door and took me up two flights of stairs. He came to a door, "through here." Drew said.
He opened the door and motioned for me to go through first. I walked through the door and my mouth dropped open. We were on the roof. It was beautiful. The night sky was lit up with stars. The moonlight shined bright on the roof. The neighborhood was so beautiful.
"Do you like it?" Drew asked.
"yeah it's amazing. I cant believe it," I said.
Drew smi;led shyly," I thought you might like it." He said. We sat for a while looking up at the stars.
When Drew was about to say something he was interrupted by his mom, "Andrew get down here now you have guests!" Drew rolled his eyes and we went back down to the party.
I went to find Jes to tell her what happened.
"Hey Chloe where's Drew?" Jes asked.
"He stopped to talk with friends," I said, "he took me to the roof. It was amazing."
"Did he ask you anything?" Jes asked.
"No...well if I wanted water." I told her.
It was 15 minutes to midnight and we all gathered around the TV to watch the ball drop.
"10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1...HAPPY NEW YEAR!" everyone yelled.
Jes and I hung around and had a good time until everyone started to leave.
"Bye Drew." Jes called as we got on our bikes.
"Chloe wait your jacket!" Drew called after me.
"Oh yeah be right back!" I told Jes.
I got off my bike and followed Drew to the weird closet. He handed me my jacket and we said bye.
Jes and I got on our bikes and road home.
"Jes you really should have reflectors on your bike or wear brighter clothes," I called to her over the wind.
"Relax. I'm fine." Jes called back annoyed.
Just then a speeding car came by around the corner. I heard the screeching of tires and then Jes's screaming.
