Blood Droplet

Chapter One

Pain engulfed my body as I ran from the screams and stretches. I looked back to see an acquaintance of mine, dead. I was filled with fear, anger, and the guilt of leaving the others behind. I ran for what seemed like hours until I stumbled upon an abandoned car. I opened the door and jumped in. catching my breath I crouched down in the car and looked around me, I saw a wrench and I immediately grabbed it to try and protect myself. Questions filled my mind and tears ran down my cheeks. What were those.....things... and why would they attack. My thoughts were interrupted by the car door open and slam shut. The small car with at least two sets of breaths; I gripped the wrench so tight that my knuckles turned white. I jumped up on the seat and was ready to stick until I saw a man and a little girl around five. The man looked panicked but the little girl looked confused. I put the wrench down but my heart was practically beating out of my chest.

"Who are you?" I asked them.

"My name is Andrew or Andy and this is my daughter, Ember" The man said calming down.

"My name is Scarlett" I replied.

Our little "chat" was interrupted by their screeches. The dead leaves crushed against 'its' strong footsteps.
We all knew to stay silent until the thing walked past the car.
The noises were getting louder and closer.

"Crouch down and be quite no matter what." I wisperd as I reached my hand up the car door to lock the car.
We heard the noises recede away from us but we remained quiet for a few minutes for good measure.
" We need to sleep to have enough strength for tommorow morning" I suggested.
"But what if the things are still out there ?" Andy asked.
" Then we will have to be careful but we will have light to see them; I'll keep watch" I said.

I looked back to see ember asleep in her fathers arms; they were both peacefully asleep. I sat back in the chair and stared at a grocery sack used as a trash bag. I picked up the sack and emptied the contents on the passenger seat. I pulled out the only useful things; a emty water bottle, a shoelace and a tin box. The other things in the sack were some tissue that somebody already used. I put the useful things in the empty sack.
Then I went to open the glove box so I can find more supplies. I opens it to find matches, a flashlight, extra batteries, liquor, gum, a deck of cards and a first aid kit. I put all the items in the bag and put the wrench in as well.

I looked up through the windsheild to see a creature in the dark. The creature had light gray looking skill, sharp teeth, and decaying flesh on the shoulder and arm .Once it saw me it then started banging on the glass making it crack.
