How Do I Deserve You?

I walked into the school with a bruised face.

"Oh my god! Shilo what the hell happened to your face?!" my best and only friend screamed as she ran down the hall to me.

"Way to bring attention to it Cass!" I hissed

"Sorry but seriously!" she replied

"shhhhhhhh!" i hissed again. I walked to my locker and got my stuff I was walking to class and I suddenly hit a brick wall and fell.

"Oh my god! I am soooo sorry!" a concerned voice cried from up above me as the most gorgeous boy I had ever met leaned down to help me up.

We met eachothers eyes and we both paused. he helped me up.

" Im so sorry!" he said "Please forgive me!" he pleaded. then he saw my face. "Oh shit I didnt do that did I?" he asked frantic

"No that was not you dont worry! Im Shilo," I replied

"Zachari nice to meet you." he replied smiling.

"What class do you have next?" I asked smileing back. it turned out we had all of the same classes and we sat next to each other in every one. At lunch Cassidy found us.

"Oooooo whos the hottie!" she cried skipping over. Zach blushed and I laughed.

"This is Zach. I met him this morning. Zach this is my sweet but a little crazy best friend cassidy." I said still laughing. She gave him a hug and smiled at his still blushing face.

"Im Cass and Shi here has a bigtime major crush on you!" she said matter of factly.

"CASS!" i screached as Zach started laughing

"Well if thats true then you wont mind me asking if you would like to go to dinner with me tonight?" he asked a hopeful look in his eye.

"Ok that sounds good. ummm but when you pick me up park down the street and text me when you get there." i replied nervousely

"Ok? he said with a question in his voice.

" Sorry my dad is a little over protective." I lied.

We made it through the day and I drove home. I snuck in when i saw my dads car in the drive way. I saw a beer bottle on the floor and bent down to retrieve it and suddenly I felt a blow to the back of my head. I fell and cried out.

"You bitch! you tryin to steal my beer you slut?" my father screamed at me.

"No dad I promise I was just picking this off the ground!" I cried back.

"Fine but if you ever back talk me like that again im gonna kill you!" he said and walked away laughing.

I waited until my sister was walking up the driveway looking wary before opening the door and grabbing her hand.

"Daddy is upset right now so you need to come through my window today." I said to my sweet seven yearold sister Mia.

I lead her around the house and called Cass.

"Hello?" i heard her answer.

"Hey my dad is drunk can i bring Mia over to your place?" I asked

"Yeah go ahead and tell Zach to pick you up at my place so i can help you get ready!" she said excitedly. This was a reaccuring issue, every time my dad was drunk I took Mia over to Cass's place. This was because one time she got home before I did and he beat her so bad he put her in the hospital.

"Ok good be there soon." i replied and hung up the phone. i grabbed mias backpack and pushed it through the window.

"Ok sweetie lets go to auntie casses house!" i said quietly before texting zach. we ran around the house and got into my beat up little nissan . i buckled mia into her carseat and got in before driving quickly away.
