Here it is. High school.
New friends. possibly no friends, and uniforms.
That's the cherry on my whipped cream, uniforms.
I was not thrilled with the social situation at my once Elementary school, but this might be worse. It might even be more sickening because of the fact that it is my first year of the wonderful land of high school. Plus, the fact that this is also a boarding school.
So, here I am, the first day. As I take in the view, I  started straightening out my kilt. Yes, you did read that right, I am wearing a nice colour scheme kilted skirt of dark blues. Plus, a plain no brand white shirt to go with it. Sounds fun already, huh? It is Friday, too. Why am I at school on Friday? Because the lessons start next week. They want us to use the weekend as a way to get ready while wearing our uniforms.
Well, anyways, let's get back on topic. Around me stood the large property, parents and pupils of all teenaged ages entering. Most were already saying farewell and getting their keys to specific rooms while others just arrived, like me. I noticed that all the boys kind of had the same uniforms, but instead of kilts they wore dark blue pants. Seeing such orderly fashion is very fascinating.
My mother put her hand on my shoulder, causing myself to get back to reality. In the background I could see my father taking the two suitcases out of our red vehicle. I smiled warmly before taking the bags and starting my treacherous walk towards the buildings main room, my parents slowly following behind. It must be hard for them, too. Having to see their daughter leave. But it is what they want, all for my education.
We walked inside to see large masses of people. This boarding school is surprisingly small. There are only two buildings in total once you get a good look at the place. I guess they want everyone to get a good education. I've noticed my parents had started talking to what looks like the principle. She had some elderly hints, dew to her white hair, wrinkly face, and... Mullet? She had a mullet. A very fancy mullet.
This was good moment. They all suddenly turned to me before approaching. She introduced herself by the name of Jeanne. And at that moment handed me a map.
It was time to say farewell. A hard moment indeed, but also exciting. This was my first chance at a new start. A new adventure. My mother hugged me tightly, letting out reassuring words as my dad watched silently.
Soon after, they were gone. I was alone, surrounded by students. I looked down at the map and pulled out the room key. 36. The magic number.
Taking my suitcases, I walked steadily towards the other building.
It seemed that the buildings were split in two levels, one being the boys while the first being the girls. As I walked down the hall, curious faces started staring. They were all interested in me. I guess that's because I was almost the only new student. Even though this floor was for girls only, I saw a boy. Why was he here? I couldn't see much, for the fact his head was facing the opposite way, but this is not important. I arrived at the room. Inside sat three girls, all looking identical to me because of the clothes.
The first girl had blonde hair that was just longer than a bob and blue eyes, her dark blue rimmed glasses went with her pale face perfectly and she was the first to wave to me, I waved back.
The next girl had black frizzed curls that were kept up in a bun and toned skin, "hi!" She exclaimed. I replied quietly with the same response.
The third girl was shorter with pale-ish skin, but with beautiful ombré hair that I fully envied, with shades of pumpkin, golden and light/dark blondes. But the thing that surprised me about her was her wall was full of gymnastics posters and a large South African flag that was pasted atop the left top bunk where she sat, "sup" she said nodding, and I smiled at her boldness "hi".
The girl with ombré hair jumped down, "I'm Emily." She said boredly, her high pitched voice and attitude taking me by surprise
"Skylar." I responded simply, shaking her hand. The other girls began to introduce themselves. The one with glasses is Katherine, while the other being Maki. They seemed very welcoming and friendly, first impressions going very well. Because this was everyone's first day, the school is allowing us to relax throughout the weekend as a getting ready usage. Allowing us all to get unpacked and ready for the year.
A small thing I had noticed about the rooms though, is that the windows have large locks on them. Why is this? No idea. Each bunk bed seemed to be fluorescent and clean. Even the tile floor seems as if you could eat off it. A very tidy school indeed, minus the moss on the outside walls. The bottom bunk underneath Emily had a small cabinet attached on, filled with school supplies and cheerleading medals. While the right top bunk was very blank. Though, a small manatee plush sat atop the pillow. On either side of the room were two dressers, each for all of us.
I placed by backpacks on the last bottom bunk before opening it up. Katherine standing up.
"Hey we're going to go meet up with our friends, come join us in the courtyard later if you want." Katherine smiled "it is nice meeting you, I hope we can all become good friends."
"For sure, t-thank you" I smiled back before the three waved goodbye. As the door closed, I let out a sigh. I started unpacking my clothes and items.
I looked up suddenly to hear a firm knock on the door. It had only been around ten minutes before this unknowingly happened. I put down my handful of novels and walked to the door curiously. In the peep hole I could see the boy. Yes, the same boy as before. Bringing up my confidence, I opened the door. But, instead of seeing a masculine build with male features, I see a girl. Did I just mess up someone's gender? Idiot. Such an idiot.
She had turquoise eyes beaming with life. Half of her head shaved while the other curved smoothly of dirty blonde hair that reaches the chin. Almost the identical height, but very different body types. Instead of wearing the usual feminine uniform, she wore the men's. I was confused. Her facial expression impossible to clue in on. Why was she here?
"Hi. Can I come in?"
