A Change In the Game
Everyone has a plan in life. Whether it's to grow up, marry, and start popping kids out like Tic Tacs, or just to finish high school, go to college, and get your masters degree. My plan in life, however, involved a list of things I wrote while in my dorm room at college, my senior year. The list went something like this...
The Game Plan
Don't become one of those needy girls that always need a man. Be a strong woman, that doesn't need a man to complete her life.
Don't rush into finding "the one".
Be INDEPENDENT! Don't rely on anyone; only yourself.
Don't kill every guy that tries to flirt with you, and does it badly.
NO relationships! Hold off on this for a while.... maybe 60 years?!
Focus on family. Be there for them if they need you.
Most of all.. don't fall for those typical bad boys that think they are hot stuff and can get any girl.. save yourself from that disaster.
Signed Elle Cooper
Little did I know on one night, the game will change.
Chapter 1: A Change In the Game
"You're my maid of honor!" Sam, my sister, squealed with delight. Of course right when she said that I was getting a drink from my Pepsi. The Pepsi spewed from my mouth, landing on her fiance, Luke Campbell.
"I guess you had the misfortune of sitting in front of me, huh?" I grimaced at Luke.
"It's okay," he laughed, "I guess I should've expected this to happen." He turned towards Sam and kissed her on the cheek. "I'll be at home, it looks like you both have a long conversation ahead of you."
Standing up, he grabbed his sunglasses, ran a hand through his dark brown hair, and walked out the diner's door. Sighing, I ran a hand through my own brown locks, and looked at my sister.
She was looking at me with her green eyes sparkling, "Well, he left you with the wolves, huh," her eyebrows came together in thought, "Or would it be wolf?"
Laughing, I reached across the table and grabbed her perfectly tan hand. "I'll be your Maid of Honor, just please stop trying to make things less horrifying for me than they already are."
"Yes!" She jumped up from her chair, but I pulled her back down. I did not want my sister happy dancing in the middle of a diner at it'd busiest hour. If anyone knew my sister, you would know she is not very talented in the dancing department.
"Please don't dance!" I pleaded.
She looked at me in fake shock, "Why so ever for?! Does it embarrass you?"
I glared at her with my hazel eyes, "Do you really have to ask that?"
She laughed, throwing her head back, her blonde hair cascading down her back. Once she was done laughing she started talking about Luke's choice of Groomsmen. I knew where this was going. She's going to try and set me up with every single man, in hopes I'll get married. She knew it was a long shot in me finding a interest in any of them, and yet she still tries to set me up.
"... The best man is the cutest in my opinion. If I wasn't already so tied down to Luke, I'd so tap that..." She stopped abruptly, "Are you even listening to me?!" She yelled.
I snapped my head up, and met her deathly glare. She hated when people didn't listen to her. You not listening to Sam was like talking in Church while sitting by the most religious person in there.
"Sam-"
"Don't you Sam me," she snapped, " Listen I know you're not very interested in dating ever since-" She stopped talking at the glare I sent her way. She knew I hated talking about.. him.
Sam sighed and rubbed the back of her neck. "I know how damaging that was for you, Elle. I just don't want you to block yourself out to all guys just because of one bad experience. Don't let him keep affecting your life like he rules it, because he doesn't. Just give other guys the chance to find out how great a person you are. Please."
I shifted my eyes down to the table, avoiding the pleading eyes of Sam. Sam cleared her throat. I looked up at her.
"How about we go get some ice cream? I suddenly got the craving for Rocky Road!" She stood up from the table and grabbed her purse. Throwing bills on the table to pay for the bill, she grabbed my hand and dragged me out of the diner.
