(Note: we love this song. The Song of Silence – Disturbed)

The next night Dez finally comes home. "Nat?" she yells walking in the door. "Natalie?!" I don't answer, I just lay there in my bed. I hear her open the door to my room, letting Loki in, he meows and rubs his face against mine. "Nat honey you okay?" I mumble into my pillow, "what?" she asks.
I look up, "what do you think? I know he told you. Honestly, I'm not surprised. What guy would want to kiss ME?" I flop my head back down. Dez rubs my back, "please just leave me alone..." I cry. She sighs and walks out, I can hear her talking on the phone to who I assume is Damsel (great now she knows too). I know she's going to try to get me to call him, but I want nothing to do with him. She walks back in and sits down next to me. "Natty cat," she whines, I fight back my smile. "Can you please look at me?"
I do but then I notice her knuckles, "oh my god Dez what happened?"

She looks at her knuckles "oh yea that... I um... punched Nines for making you cry."
I hug her. "Thank you Dezzy Boo. You really are my sister." I start to cry again, "I just don't understand what's wrong with me?"
She pulls back from the hug and looks at me sternly. "NOTHING, nothing is wrong with you Nat. You are beautiful, smart, funny, creative and the best person I know," I smile, "now why you don't get in the shower and I will make you something to eat. How does that sound?" I sniff and nod. "Good. What do you want?"
"I don't know... something fat and greasy," I smile.
She laughs, "will do." I get up and shower.

When I get out I get dressed I walk out to see her making chocolate pancakes, "you know that's not close to what I ordered."
"Deal with it." She smiles making me laugh, but it dies down fast. "Nat?" She gets cut off when her phone goes off, "Can you see who that is?" I nod and look. Nines, of course. I answer.
"The hell do you want?" I ask, my voice laced with venom.
"Nat? Oh my god Nat, I am so fucking sorry, I-"
"I'm sure you are. Oh and its Natalie to you now." I interrupt, "goodbye Nines, I don't want to hear from you again." I can hear him start talking but I hang up. "You know Dez, I thought he would be different." I sigh. I'm not a drinker but why not, I get out some fireball and pour a shot. "Want one?" I ask. She shakes her head no, "whatever," I shrug. I pour myself a cup and set it next to me.
"What do you mean?" Dez finally asks after I take a few sips and calm down.
"I mean, I thought this time I found the one." I laugh and shake my head, "that's what I get, there are no such things as a happy ending."
"I don't know, I think he could be. The one I mean."
"Wait, what?!" I ask, giving her a dirty look.
"I-I mean, maybe you should give him another chance?"
I laugh, "Yeah right." She hands me a stack of pancakes. "Thanks," jumping down from my stool, I go to the table and eat.

I eat and somehow we both end up on the couch watching Family Guy, I have my head on her lap while she plays with my hair, and Loki is laying with us purring up a storm. My phone goes off, I don't look at it. I know who it is, "why can't he just give up. I'm not going to answer."
"I know you don't want to Nat, but you should give him a chance to explain everything."
"If he wanted to explain he should have done it last night." I sit up off her lap. "I felt like I finally found that missing piece. Boy was I wrong."
She sighs, "There's something you should know Nat." She looks nervous
"You know you can tell me anything Dez" I say smiling but beginning to worry.
She shakes her head, "not absolutely anything, but I don't care if I get into trouble, you deserve to know." She pauses, "he's taking too long to make up his damn mind and I know he's doing it on purpose, I just have to tell you."
"Who? What, tell me what?"
"Lacroix."
"Who the hell is that?" I am so confused.
Destiny looks uncomfortable. "He's...," she sighs. "First I need to tell you what I am."
"Well, Dez you're a human, same as me. What else could you be? An alien?" I joke.
"Natalie I'm serious."
"Sorry. I just don't understand."
"Thank you," she takes a deep breath. "Now as I was saying. Nines, Damsel, Jason, and I aren't human. Not anymore anyway. The reason we have fangs is because we are vampires." she looks at me all I can do stair at her.

"Oh come on!" I yell getting up.
"It's true. Nat, why would I lie to you?"
"I guess there must be a reason because there is no way you're a fucking vampire. They're not real!" I sigh and shake my head, "I should have known you wouldn't tell me, your just like him."
"Nat," she whispers her voice cracking.
"No, you know what just leave. I'm not stupid you know."
"Well, obviously you are. You're not even listening to me and I'm trying to help you."
"What do you want me to do?"
"Just fucking believe me," both of our voices are starting strain, "and I can't leave you otherwise the creep Jason might turn you. I can't let that happen."
"why not?!"
"Why do you think? You're my best friend and... and Nines loves you."
"Bullshit!" I start to walk away.
"Yeah, just walk away from me like you do everyone else who tries to explain themselves to you!" She hisses.
"You're the one who's talking bullshit."
She shakes her head and gathers her things, "I can't stay here right now." She stands at the door, "if you refuse to believe me what's the point of staying here. He can have you!" I sit back down on the couch, she rips open the door and walks out. I should have stopped her, I wish I would have stopped her.
