Matt's Surprise

Today was the big day. I was going to do something amazing. I skipped school without anyone knowing, well everyone except Leah, Mrs. Sholder. I had the box in my hand and knocked on his front door.

"Hello-. Oh Lucy?" Leah answered shocked to see me. "I know this is unexpected but may I come in?" I asked. "Sure." She said opening the door for me. "Thanks." I said stepping inside.

"So what brings you here?" She asked. "Well as you know today is Matt'a birthday, and we have officially been friends for twelve years, so I wanted to do something for him." I explained. "Okay, I can tell you really planned this out so you can do whatever." She winked at me before walking into the other room.

I began his present. I laid out all of the pictures and put a rolled up price of scotch tape on the back of each one. I took the youngest picture I could find and taped it to the kitchen wall. I left some space before putting another old picture up then another and another. Soon I had a trail of pictures going from the front door to his bed room door.

I went in his room and set down a new Xbox controller and a new game he's been wanting on his gaming chair. It looked nice with a red bow on top of both items. I grabbed a piece of blank paper from the box and drew and arrow on it and left it on his bed to point to his backyard.

I headed downstairs and went out to my car. I pulled out a large banner and took it out to his yard. I pulled out a can of red spray paint and began my master piece. I finished and put the cans away. I stood back and looked at it and I was really proud.

I heard a car pull up and I quickly straightened out the banner. It took a couple minutes but I finally saw him stick his head out his bedroom window with the biggest smile I've ever seen. I looked down at the banner "HAPPY BIRTHDAY MATT!" It read with multi colored balloons and confetti everywhere.

He ran outside and right to me. He wrapped his arms around my waist and spun me around. "Thank you so much Lucy. This is the most amazing thing anyone has done for me." He said setting me back down but not letting go. "Matt I need to tell you something." I stuttered.

"Yeah?" He asked. "Matt, I think I love you." I said. I was so scared, I can't believe I actually said that. "Lucy, I think I love you too." He said. His strong hands caressed my small face and he kissed me. He really kissed me!

"Haha we were such dorks." He laughed pointing to the picture where we were making funny faces. We had gone through and picked all the pictures off the wall, and were looking through them now.

I can't believe Matt was finally mine. He likes me and I like him.
