Dear Diary,
Today is my first day of eighth grade. Wow. The years passed by so quickly. Sixth and seventh grade are now only blurs of my imagination. I cannot believe that I had spent two whole years at Cherrydale Middle School. It still feels new when I walk through the glass double- doors at the front of my school. Am I ready for eighth grade? I am looking forward to meeting new people, and seeing all my friends. But I am surely not looking forward to homework, tests, and huge projects...

I look up from my diary and check out the time 7:23. I jump and gulp down my glass filled with water. Then I ferociously devour my chocolate donut with rainbow sprinkles and start to comb my chocolate brown hair. After I finished off the donut, I scurry into the bathroom and start to brush my teeth. Stupid braces! I absolutely cannot wait to get those horrible robotic materials out of my mouth! I gargle on water a spit it all over the sink. I sigh, next time I'll be more careful. But I don't have time for that. And with that, I grab my Vera Bradley lunch box, and I shove it inside my neon pink backpack. "Bye Mom, I'm leaving for a school!" I say as I run out the door, and down our ginormous hill. I pick up the newspaper and toss it up to the front door. Then I head off for school.
The birds chirp their sing- song melody, while I walk on the sidewalk debating whether to braid my hair, or keep it loose. I pull out my iPhone 3GS. Two unread messages! I smile as I open the first message. It's from Olivia: 'Heyy girl. Ready for school?' I quickly reply with a 'No, I am not ready to pick up my meal of textbooks and learning mashed up with middle school drama for dessert!' Olivia is always cheerful & smiley. She kind of reminds me of a monkey; they both have short chestnut hair and they both love bananas. The other message is from Mom<3: 'May the spirit of The Lord be blessed upon you. Have a great day!' I sigh. My mother is very religious. She carries a rosary around in her pocket, and she wears a cross necklace everywhere she goes. Though I love her dearly, I get sick of the religious quotes and her ways to make everyone feel loved. In middle school, you are going to meet someone in your life who will hate you no matter what you do. I have been trying to convince my mom that that is life, and that bot everybody you meet will be friendly and accepting as she is. But my mother has different opinions...
7:44. I sprint the rest of the walk to school. Luckily it is not raining, as it had rained to day before, but not everybody was cautious. I saw all of the students as they ran up the main stairwell, and burst through the glass double- doors. As I started to climb, a large girl a few steps infront of me pushed a tiny girl into the railing of the stairwell, and it led to a ripple of students falling in all directions. I tried to steer clear of the children on the ground, but I caught a glance at the small girl that was pushed into the railing. Poor girl. Her eyes were blood shot from crying, and her small hands clutched her paper bag lunch. She was still on the steps, her blonde hair blowing in the wind. I held out my hand to her, she graciously accepted it and I helped her up the rest of the stairs.
Once we got past the glass double- doors, the girl whispered, "Thank you," and she walked down the hall, as I took a sharp right turn. I jogged to my homeroom classroom, and ran inside.
