Senior year, the most anticipated year of highschool. Ever since I walked through the big intimidating doors, I wanted to get to this point. Now a rush of all types of emotions hits my heart. I'm feeling happy and excited that I've finnaly finished highschool. At the same time I'm feeling immense sadness for the fact that all my friends and everyone I have ever met while I was here are now running of to find their own paths.
There I was, talking to my friends in 3rd period. The announcements had come in that morning warning us about the goodbye party they usually have for the seniors. This year it would be held in the gym. It made since, after all, the gym was huge. After our teacher was done ranting about how the outside world was cruel and scary for about an hour, the bell had rang announcing the end of 3rd period. My group of friends and I walked towards the senior dinning hall. Our school had always praised the seniors and celebrated their good riddance in a significantly extravagant way. First the seniors would meet in the senior dinning hall and would be organized in a line with a partner of their choice. Then color guards would be posted at the front and end and a couple of band members at the sides. After organization they would walk down into either the cafeteria, gym, or auditorium. This year it was held in the gym.
After being organized and escorting yourself out of the senior dinning room, we had finnaly arrived at the doors of the gym. We could hear the lower class men inside already.
Inside, the principal had begun the announcements.
"Students of Langston High, give a huge round of applause for our seniors!!"
Almost instantly the band members started playing their instruments. Every year they played the same song but somehow it seemed extremely glorious this year. Perhaps it was the fact that it was for me, us, this year.
As the doors opened and a crowed of people clapping for us was revealed, my heart started to feel an avalanche of emotions. As I talked to my friend Eva they escorted us to the seniors seats at the stage.
I, of course, looked for a seat closest to all of my friends. After being celebrated with a few performances from the schools various clubs, it was social hour. This was basically the rest of the day being set aside specifically for everyone to socialize.
My friend Cassey, who was a Junior, came over to my little group of friends. She had motioned over some of her friends that were with her before.
"Hey Ruben.. And friends" she said with a sort of awkward tone.
"Hey Cassey,.. Who are your little friends" I responded
"Oh their my friends Kevin, Nat, and Grace" she said pointing at all of them one by one.
As we introduced our self's and easily made conversation, Nat mentioned that his older brother, Matthew, was going to the college I was. Coinsidently, Matthew and I had both signed up for summer classes.
A while later the bell had rang officially marking the end of the year and beginning of summer vacation. Though vacation was finnaly upon us, for me school would be starting within a month.
