I woke up the next day to find Aaron, Garroth, Laurence and Kiki all gone. They probably left to explore the ruins in the early hours of the morning. I can't say I didn't enjoy the quiet, but I also missed having everyone around. Earlier today Yip had arrived and told me that everything in Phoenix Drop was doing well.
Isabel and Zoey got in a cute little fight over who should be watching Lilith. I ended up handing the job to the both of them. I knew they were going to get along, and they did, so long as there wasn't a baby involved.
I thought about yesterday and all that had happened and decided to count up the tallies. Garroth kissed me when I first saw him in my dream world. I kissed Laurence to get him under control with the werewolf incident. I kissed Garroth to get him under control after he went insane with his Jury of Nine form. Laurence kissed me under the tree when he said he was determined to win. Garroth kissed me when he pushed me up against the tree.
Why was I letting them do this to me? To my heart?
"Hey Aph," I heard Zoey call out to me.
"Hmm?" I said still in thought.
"Lilith is trying to walk!" She squealed. Instantly I got up and ran over to their home. When I stampeded in I noticed that Lilith was indeed trying to walk. She was holding onto a makeshift table and trying to stand on her stubby feet. She kept falling after about two seconds.
"Awe! Lilith! I wanna help you so bad, but I want you to learn not to depend to heavily on me," I sighed and whispered the next sentence to myself, "just incase I happen to get trapped in the Irene dimension,"
Lilith was giggling each time she fell. I swear I just wanted to squeeze her to death. You know, I heard cuteness activates aggressiveness. She finally managed to stand for five full seconds before falling, a new record! Lilith just kept on trying until she fell asleep. I saw her shiver slightly so I took her into my arms and wrapped a light pink blanket around her chubby body.
"I got it, you go do what you have to," Zoey smiled and took Lilith from my hands before walking upstairs to lay her in her crib.
I walked out and closed the door behind me. Instantly I missed the warmth of their home. It was getting way colder out here. Walking to the tent to get my jacket I heard a scream coming from the forest, and it sounded like Dimitri. I grabbed my jacket and sword and ran out as fast as I could. Following the source of the scream I continued running at a fast pace. I reached Dimitri only to find him up against a tree facing a strange creature. Instantly I sliced at the creature making it dissipate.
Great, now we had another thing we had to worry about.
"Aphmau, I'm sorry," he began crying, "I thought I could go and help the others to prove I was worthy guard. I see now that I'm not,"
I chuckled, "kid, you've got extreme potential. Just your passion alone is enough to make you worthy. Besides, your mom is Nicole, Lord of Scaleswind and your dad Dante is the head guard of Phoenix Drop. Trust me, it's in your blood,"
"Promise?" He smiled.
"Promise," I smiled back.
Together we walked back to camp while talking about how different it is living with Nicole than it is living with Kawaii-chan. Apparently Nicole is pretty tough in comparison, though I'm not surprised.
"Damn you kid! Did you steal my weapon again?" I heard Katelyn from the ship. Funny, I thought she got sea sick easily and yet she's hardly left it since we got here.
"Oh, you mean these?" Dimitri pulled them out from his shoes.
"Yes you damned brat! Now give them back!" Her face was red with anger.
Dimitri smirked, "want me to toss them to you?"
Katelyn's eyes widened, "Are you dumb? They would fall in the water!"
I snatched them from Dimitri, "hey!" He shouted.
"You can't mess around with these, they're for Katelyn only," I put them in my pocket, "don't worry, I'll leave them with Zoey, come get them when you get the chance,"
And so, I walked over to Zoey's house and gave the claws to her, telling her to protect them, especially from Dimitri. At the end of my talk with Dimitri on how he needs to behave, I walked back to my tent and sat down with my book and quill. Lilith needed a story.
Once upon a time, there was a lord. Everyone admired her for her beauty and intelligence. Two of her most trusted guards saw her as something more than a lord. They wanted her all to themselves.
What am I writing? I tore out the page and crumbled it up. No use in keeping that useless story around. Maybe I'll rewrite it when I know the outcome.
"Aphmau," I heard Aaron's voice, "we're back,"
"That was quick, what happened?" I questioned their reason for coming back so soon.
"You should see for yourself," he offered his hand to me and I accepted. When I got out I saw the entirety of the village gathered around Laurence. He was looking down sorrowfully.
"We found something," he looked up and his eyes landed on me. He took a deep breath, "I think it's a prophecy,"
My eyes widened, "what? What does it say?"
He closed his eyes and pulled out a scroll from his back pocket. He opened it up and took another deep breath before speaking the words that would change things forever.
"Lady Irene's reincarnation shall come centuries later and form a ladder,
A guard and a knight shall fight and shatter,
To win her heart and gain full power,
She will vanquish at the winter solstice shower,"
