I found myself locked back in the room, as a precaution. Apparently they didn’t want to take any risks. Why the hell would they care about me? I’m just another stupid teenager.
This room was starting to get on my nerves. No window with grey walls, grey floors, grey everything. The only colour was the white sheets that were on the bed that had been pulled in here whilst I was out. I felt like they had intently made this room a hue of colours, like in the old days on television.
With more attention, I noticed there was something on my bed. A note pad had a black and blue pen, lead pencil and a few coloured pencils sitting next to it. Why the hell not? I kind of liked to draw anyway.
…
After what felt like a few hours later my so called ‘masterpiece’ sat in front of me. A horse with a gorgeous flowing mane and tail, its face shaped slightly like an Arabian with a slight hint of the stock horse trait. Just in pencil, but you could see its every muscle and fleck of its coat.
Drawing gave me a sense of calmness and serenity. Emotions seemed to flow through the pencil onto the paper.
And that, that was my only entertainment. Although the time did seem to fly past quite quickly.
The room started to get a slight chill. It must be late afternoon. After looking under the door, I noticed that the lights were on… it has to be sundown.
…
A nock on the door startled me from my thoughts. The hinges squeaked slightly as Adrian’s head emerged around the corner,
“Come on its dinner time”
I stared at him through the dark. My stomach growled so loud that he laughed at me. Dinner actually doesn’t sound like a bad idea. So I obeyed, got off the bed and followed him out the door.
My eyes took a few seconds to adapt to the light change before I continued on after Adrian. He took me along the hallway and through the lounge room we had been in earlier that day when I made my attempt at getting out of here. Finally we came to what appeared to be a dining room. In the middle was an oak table already set, with three chairs on each side and one on each end.
Cavalla and Shaun walked in with a bowl in each hand and placed them on the table.
“Hello Mali” Cavalla said whilst giggling, “We thought you might like some tea”.
I nodded in response.
Three boys walked through the doorway on the right. One of them was the one that laughed at Adrian earlier. He had sandy blond hair that spiked out slightly at the ends and light green eyes. He was medium sized compared to the other boys.
Every one sat at the table and I found Adrian on my left and the sandy blond haired boy on my right. And the other two boys sat across from us, whilst Cavalla and Paul sat one on each end.
I stared at the two boys sitting across from me. The one on the right with curly black hair and brown eyes coughed. Adrian stirred next to me.
Oh sorry! Mali this is Kenneth” he pointed to the guy that I had been staring at. “And that is James” He nodded towards a boy with light brown hair that had grey eyes. He waved “Hi”.
“And this” Adrian turned to the guy on the right “Is Caleb”.
The guy smirked. “Hey ya Mali. Nice job earlier today”. I blushed at the thought of me running into Adrian’s chest.
“Ahem” I turned towards Shaun. “Ready for dinner? Dig in”
I lunged for the chicken as it was the first thing that caught my eye, claiming two chicken wings and then going in for a sausage and some mixed salad. The chicken juice ran into my mouth as I took a large chunk out of the wing. It tasted sooo bloody good! I looked up from my plate and noticed everyone was watching me while they were eating.
“Have you not seen a person eat?”
The boys laughed. I am not amused.
“It’s just you look so much like Lilly, your mother, it just amazes me.” Cavalla said.
“What did she look like?” I inquired
“She had the same blond hair as yourself. However your eyes are a mix of your mothers grey one and your father’s blue ones. She had a beautiful face, not plump but not skinny. Whereas your dad, Chris, had a rounded face that thinned in at his chin”.
She got up from the table and walked over to a small sideboard cupboard. Then turned around and came up to me. In her hand was a photo.
