I saw a small scar going across my foot. I lifted up the covers. It was them again. They where in the area for certain. I hadn't been out for long. But I know they aren't going to stay long. Thoughts running through my head I manage to pull myself together. I slid into my slippers. Pulled down my dressing gown. I stared at it and decided it would make to much noise. Instead I found a jacket on the floor. It would have to do for now. I have been eating stale bread for a week so it would hide my sent. No tea or coffee either. Just water. No fancy shampoo or conditioner. Nothing containing strong smells. Found my dagger in the sock draw. Mum and dad would be out for the count. Ty would be up in a few hours having his morning cry. I had to be quick. Open the window and climb down. Sounds more difficult then it actually is. Running silently or to what an average human would consider as silent. Running for about a mile until I saw him, running from roof to roof effortlessly. Climbing a wall using a window ledge to give me a boost. Pulling myself reaching for the edge of the roof. My legs dangling in the air I manage to find the strength to pull myself up. To think I use to be weak, crap at all sport to go to this. A practically fearless being. Who knew secrets no one should know. With the knowledge only a few know. I ran and jumped. I use to hate long jump. Then again it is a lot more fun jumping across buildings then jumping across a big sandpit. I was just behind him. Here was my chance I had been waiting for. I pushed him up against a wall my dagger point resting on his heart. My knee pressed lightly to his groin. "What is this for?" He asked.
"This is your fault. You made yourself to obvious." I said calmly.
"I really do not know what you are on about." He replied.
"You're a Vampire!" I spat. "And you don't know what I'm on about?" I said sarcastically. He tried to breath on me but I pulled out the ripped leather square from my pyjama pocket. "Don't even think about it!" I warn him. He tries to overthrow me. But my grip is too tight. "Just here what I have to say!" I plead desperately trying to hold his wriggling body still. "I don't want to know. About you or the other creatures which lurk in the night. I want rid of the memories and I cannot do this without your help." He stopped wriggling. "I am not here to harm you. I come to seek your assistance." Stare into his eyes so he can see my pain. "Please when I release you do not flit off." I ask a tear forming in my eye. Gently as possible I let my grip get weaker and weaker till I am not even touching him. He scratched his scar running down his cheek. "What do you expect me to do about this?" He asked coldly.
"You can hypnotise people. All I am asking is for me to forget about the two races!" He raised a eyebrow.
"Why should I do as you require?" He asked.
"I'll do anything. I just don't want to remember." I place my arms around his neck and kiss him softly. I stare into his eyes and whisper "anything". He stared into my eyes and pushed a loose strand of hair behind my ear. "My dear child I am not interested in anything that you can do."
"Then what?" I ask puzzled.
"I am low on blood. I ask if you could spear some."
"How much?"
"Oh a small amount. You shall barely notice the difference." He replied.
"From what part?"
"An arm if possible." I give a nod. Remove my jacket and roll up both sleeves of my pyjama top up to my shoulders. I see his eyes flicker to my scars. He sighs. "Is this to do with what you have seen?" He asks softly. I give a nod like a child not knowing how to reply. I use to self harm over it. What happened. He breathed on me.
Lifting my head up from the cold hard ground I stare at him. "You are awake." He says not even turning to see me pushing myself up from the ground. "You were out shorter then I expected." He commented. "Light sleeper." I reply standing. I stare out into the distance. The lamppost lights have gone out. Must be past midnight. I can just about see his silhouette. I feel his hand on mine. He places something in my hand. I feel a button and press it. It's a torch. I stare at my arms. I take off my jacket and roll up my sleeves. All the scares are now blearily noticeable. "Thank you." I say running a finger across one of them. "You are welcome. Thank you for the blood." He replied merrily. "Just out of curiosity what do you need to forget?" He asks scratching his scar.
"When I was younger I ran away from home as I had what I thought to be a big argument with my parents. I was out on the streets for a night. I became friends with a girl roughly the same age as me. Mary her name was. Bright girl. We saw two men by a dumpster. They were feeding from a woman. I was about to scream but Mary covered my mouth. We watched in horror. Blood dripping from their mouths. Standing on a thick cloth. Mary pulled me away. We began to run. They where to busy to notice us. Mary convinced me to go back to my parents. So I did. A week later my parents where watching the news. A young girl has been found dead by the side of the dumpsters. That young girl was Mary." Tears forming in my eyes. "They said it looked like hyperthermia. But I knew it was them. This was their warning to me!" The Vampire stared at me still concentrating. "A few years later I come back from a Halloween party. It was dark. I could see a man he breathed on a drunken woman. She fell to the ground. He sliced a vain and began to drink. He was different. His eyes where not red like the other was and his skin was pale. Not purple like the others where."
"Then you did your research I am guessing?" I give a nod.
"Please. I can't even let my parents go out in the dark." He smiles to me.
"You deliberately left your window opened tonight." I give a nod and a faint smile. "Those memories how horrific they are, can actually be a blessing." He replies to my nod.
"How!" I snap.
He sighed. "You can protect your family from them. You know how to deal them. Yes if I hypnotise you, you shall forget. But it does not work on the emotions. You will still hate your parents leaving the house in the dark. You will always feel like something is in the dark. Monsters from your nightmares hunt for their pray." I sigh. "I am sorry but I think it is best if you remember." He replies. He does have a point I suppose. "Have you decided?"
"When you put it like that I don't want to forget. But school nor life can never seem normal. Not the way it use to be." He places a hand on my shoulder. "I know of this place. A freak show in fact. They would take you and your family in. No Vampaneese or Vampire will not be able to harm you. That is if you want?" He asks.
"My parents would decline." I sigh.
"If you wanted I could hypnotise them into agreeing?"
I smile at him. "You'd do all that for me?" I question.
"No one should have to know what you know and live in the normal human society." He places his other hand on my other shoulder. "So it shall be done."
