"Rae, look at me when I'm calling your name," Ms Loft states bluntly. I don't look up, I can't look up.
"Rae, do not ignore me," this time, she speaks with an assertive tone.
I look up, but close my eyes.
"Rae, open your eyes," Ms Loft is getting agitated now. I open them slightly so she can't see my eyes properly.
"You need to sleep earlier, Rae," I nod, then rest my head on the desk. I can hear Ms Loft huff as she opens the door for a teacher. It's Miss Bachia.
"Could I have the Uni2Go students please?" Uni2Go is a programme to try and get students to get to university, and go to different university workshops that all bore the hell out of me. I get up and leave, keeping my pace slow so that my friends can catch up.
When we get to the Assembly hall, Daria and Maia are waiting for us. Daria comes towards me and hugs me straight away. Then she whispers in my ear, "Simon-Isaac is here and he's sitting with your brother and they keep looking at me." Daria still clutches me. By the way, Simon-Isaac isn't actually called Simon Isaac, His name is actually Neve, but he looks like Simon from The Mortal Instruments and Isaac from The Fault In Our Stars. Oh, and the guy he's sitting next to isn't my brother, he's just my lookalike. Although in my personal opinion, we look nothing alike. When Daria finally pulls away, she draws in a sharp breath. "But you're only fifteen," she whispers and I nod my head. She understands what I mean.By the time the workshop starts, I've convinced anyone who asked me about my eyes that I'm wearing contacts. Miss Bachia calls out names for groups we'll be put in for this workshop. "You're going to be mixed years, so just saying," she precedes into calling out names. I only listen when I hear my name. "... Rae, Olivia, Nathaniel, Tyler, Kevin, Laura." I shift towards Laura, and we smile at each other, as we are in the same group, but then widen eyes when we realise Nathaniel is in our group. "Eh, get in there Rae," she gives me an awkward wink then we crack up laughing, We walk towards the rest of our group. Tyler (my lookalike) looks at me then grabs Laura by the arm and drags her to the corner. One of the year eleven girls in our group who's name I didn't catch isn't in, and Olivia and Kevin are chasing each other, claiming that they stole each other's pens. That leaves Nathaniel and I standing alone. All he does is stare right into my eyes. When the rest of our group finally join us, we start on our activity. I notice throughout the session that Tyler keeps looking at my eyes. But it's not the look of confusion that Tyler gives me, it's a look of knowing.
By the end of the session, I've been stared at so many times that I couldn't keep track. I also notice that Laura is hiding something from Tyler, which is my weird incident. And I also notice that Tyler knows. Tyler knows I'm a caster. I know this because there's something different about him too. His eyes are greener that usual. And being a caster, I can tell who's a caster.
