Darius scowled as he strode down the crowded streets of Jargon.
He hated it. The chaos, the noise, the lack of discipline that the city had.
The base was always quiet. The soldiers weren't allowed into Kaos (and Darius's) part of the base unless they had direct orders from Kaos himself to come in.
Darius shoved his hands into his pockets and made his way towards a newspaper stand. He got the paper and was about to leave when he saw something odd.
On a brick wall in black painted letters was "Come See The Shadows- Only $5".
Darius, knowing that he would regret it later, walked in.
There, in cages like animals were the five missing Shadows. The people crowded around them and taunted them. The soldiers were barely controlling themselves.
Darius did what any other impulsive 14-year-old would. He screamed at the top of his lungs, "Fire!" as he dropped a fire-bomb. It was small, but it immediately started to spark and smoke.
The crowd ran screaming, and Darius was able to blast the cage doors open with his hand-blaster.
The soldiers and he escaped as the building went up in flames. No one noticed them running through the crowd. They made it to an empty alleyway that was marked by a single white streak.
Darius pressed his badge to the streak, and it opened to reveal a warp-hole. He dove in and the others followed suit.
Soon they would arrive at the base.
The escape would be a piece of cake compared to the task of explaining to Kaos what he had done.
Darius grimaced. He was dead when he got back.
