He'd taken me just outside of camp, where a tarp was draped over a dead fire and that's where i'd sat slightly wet, and completely starving, listening half-heartedly through the sound of pouring rain, as i focused on demolishing my dinner.
I ate like....something gross and very unlady like. Like a savage.... Like...like jasper and Monty after they smoked a smuggled joint. Trauma makes me hungry what can I say.
And Bellamy had watched me eat with an unmasked look of disgust and had tried to go on With his speech about his plans and how powerful I could be on his side if we were allies he was working so hard to convince me and something about it I couldn't get past.
I swallowed. " yeah sure you would be a great and fearless leader for the history books! And we all know I'd look fabulous in a crown but why make me the queen of your new world?"
" I never said queen." He corrected seriously . I rolled my eyes and licked my fingers.
" ok one you're losing points not gaining them guard dog and two you're avoiding my question which is not a good way to get my on your side. A crappy dinner can only get you so far with a girl you know."He sighed "Look as much as i hate to admit to needing anyone,i need you. You're passionate, loyal and honest, and though I've yet to see it, I'm told you capable of charm and charisma. Things i'm sorely lacking as of now, in the ranks of my allies."
I scoffed. "I'm not disagreeing with you I'm one charming debutante, however very few of the criminals down here have ever been interested in getting to know that. They don't like any words that come from a privileged mouth.and as they love to remind me I am the daughter of councilman Kane. If anything I would hurt your campaign for prom king."
"I hate the privileged more than anyone! However you ginger are not one of them. I saw that day one. You want change as does every other person on this planet! Your honesty , your loyalty, and your ability to shut that spoiled princess up are all reasons why I want you on my side. My second hand." I considered all of this. This guy was good at speeches I'd give him that. And I was almost sold. Then he put the cherry on top.
"We can change things Ginger, no more inescapable class systems! No more voiceless workers, or fear of making a mistake! No more restrictions no more corruption! We have a chance to make earth good! For all of us!"
It was something in his eyes in that moment. A spark of something I'd always known in myself. It was that, which made me trust him. Which made me even consider agreeing to this." I have conditions." I warned.
He looked at me as if he were very very tired. And he sighed. . " of course you would." He grumbled.

I walked back to camp that night by his side, and through the trees we emerged to a camp sleeping and quiet. The rain had poured and Bellamy and I were soaked. All we could hear were crickets and quiet moans coming from the drop ship.
I turned to face him.
" You know they're not going to like you for picking me right?" I warned one last time."They'll come around! Even Princess will see our side soon enough." My lips pursed. And though unsure I nodded. Then my hand reached out for him to shake.
He looked at it and rolled his eyes but took it all the same. And once I had his hand in mine I stepped a little closer putting all my force into the shake.
"My conditions will be met." I stated more than asked, with an eyebrow raised expectantly.
He smirked and shook my hand right with a firm grip.
" Of course I'm a man of my word."
"Good because I'd hate to hurt that pretty face you know." I joked releasing his hand and turning to saunter away with confidence I never knew I had. That's when I realized that earth had already changed me. And I liked it.
