"What do you mean Mrs Cha? Do I have an appointment with him? Why didn't you tell me?" I kept asking her. You could hear the frustration in my voice.
I'm really irritated right now and I don't want to see anyone right now, specially him.
"Hello, Madam Jung." I heard him say while bowing at the same time.
"Mrs Cha please prepare the conference room." I said without even looking and both of them.
-
"What are you doing here, Mr Kim?" I asked him while Mrs Cha placed some tea. Jasmine tea, my favourite.
"Why don't we just enjoy some tea? If I'm not mistake this is Jasmine? Its the favourite of a certain someone I know." He smiled.
Was he being sincere? That smiled felt so genuine. What is he trying to play?
"Well, since your here, let me tell you now. We will not be working with your company." I said straight forward.
"What do you mean? The contract set was was not bad. I reviewed all the details and I believe it is also very advantageous for Millennium Hotels." He said in shock.
"Please respect my decision, I, as the representative of my company have the right to decline this operation." My voice hollered within the empty room. I stand up preparing to leave.
"Why? What is your reason? I deserve to know a legitimate reason for why you are backing down." He stated firmly.
"Is it because of our past relati—"
"NO." I said furiously as I shut my eyes, with my back facing him.
"I mean, its been 7 years Joomi..." He voice trailed off. Was that a glint of hope I heard in his voice? Here I go again with my stupid assumptions.
"No. What do you mean? Oh, and by the way, my company has our reasons and standards, that is why I am reconsidering the business plan." I fake smiled back.
"Now if you excuse me." I walked out of the room without hearing another word.
I entered my office and sat down in my chair. I am seriously tired, this is just too much stress for me to handle.
I want to relieve and vent out, I saw my phone and grabbed it immediately. I searched for Yifan's name and rang him up.
"Hey, are you free tonight? I just want to have a little drink."
"Sure, just tell me when and where, I'll be there!"
Yifan doesn't know who the father of my child is. Even I wondered why he wasn't asking any questions regarding Joohyuk's father. "It doesn't matter anymore, what has happened, happened. There is no more use in dwelling in the past."Those words really struck me hard, and made me stronger to achieve what I am today.
I went to a lounge that I used to frequent to when I'm stressed with my work. It was owned by a good friend of mine I met in college as well.
"The regular." I said to the bartender as I slipped on the seat. I looked on my phone while waiting and caught a glimpse of another figure sitting beside me.
"Hey." He said.
"You're here!" I said as I give him a hug.
"So, what's up? Why the sudden urge to drink?"
"It's nothing, just some office problems that I really want to forget about right now." I said as the bartender gave me my drink.
"I'll have the same thing. You still drink that? I thought you didn't like it huh?"
"I know right, when you first told me about this, I was disgusted. But, now its my favourite as well like you." I chuckled as I took a sip.
"You could tell me about your problem in the office you know, I'm all ears and who knows I could even help you with it! I'm not a nerd for nothing right?" He proclaimed.
I laughed at what he said. Who knows he might actually be of help.
"Okay then, you see, we are having a collaboration with XIU Co., you know the big architecture compa—"
"Wait, XIU Company? As in the one lead by Minseok?" He looked at me with a startled expression. I was confused, I thought Minseok was known as Xiumin?
I nodded my head while looking at him. "Minseok?" I asked him.
"Yeah, Mr Kim Xiumin as he wanted to be known. I know that guy, we've been friends for a long time now. We're really close, I think its been months since I last saw him. He's in Korea right now?"
Oh no.
I didn't know what to say or do next.
"Isn't that him? Minseok-ah!" He said as he waved to someone by the entrance. I knew I was in a big mess right now.
"Kris!" I heard the same voice of who I expected it to be. I can hear the foot steps coming closer. "Yifan please. Don't." I looked as Yifan and he responded with a confused expression.
As he was looking at me, Minseok threw him a brotherly hug. "So, what are you doin—" Minseok paused as soon as he saw my face.
"Joomi?" Minseok was obviously surprised.
"You know her? She came with me." Yifan said.
I don't understand what expression Minseok was wearing right now. "Mr. Kim." I said as I tried casually greeting him.
"Yifan, I don't feel good, I'm going to go ahead." I collected my things. "Let me drive you home, you had more than enough drinks to actually keep you sober."
Yifan helped me up, and I both to Minseok as we were standing up.
"Sorry dude, gotta go. I didn't know you where in Korea, hit me up, catch up." He said as he gave him a pat in the back. Before exiting the main door, I looked behind. I didn't know what got to me, it was such a stupid thing to do. But, I saw him there still looking at us with a forlorn expression. He seemed to mumble words, but I didn't get any of it.
