I stepped out of the plane, glad that I'm able to stretch and breathe fresh air. Elizabeth (call her Liz or else she'll chop off your fingers and feed them to her dog) walked up next to me, her hands fidgeting and her head darting back and forth.

"Calm down, you look like you just murdered a person and you don't know what to do next."

Sure, I was telling Liz to cool it, but I was sort of freaking out too.

You see, I've lived in The USA for most of my life, except when I was a baby and I lived in Dominican Republic. But, where we were now was nowhere near either country.

We just got off a plane in Romania.

Yes, Romania. Population, 22 million, and the original home of 'vampires.'

She might as well of seen one with that look on her face. She looked like a frightened cat.

"Where is he?" She asked, her head still turning. "He said he's be here."

I sighed and led her to the airport where our luggage awaited. Liz was talking about Zayn, her hottie British boyfriend. He's the whole reason we're here. Two years ago, his family moved from England to America. But, a year after, when he turned 18, he moved to Romania, saying that he had some business to take care of. It sounded kind of suspicious to me, but Liz didn't seem to mind. I personally believe that he's some kind of Romanian mobster.

Then, once both Liz and I turned 18, he invited us to move there with him. To Romania. And of course she said yes for both of us.

So, here I am. Regretting every second of this.

Once we got our luggage, we hailed a taxi and climbed in. Thankfully most of the people here spoke English, so I wouldn't have to use my horrid Latin skills.

About half an hour later, we arrived at Zayn's place.

"Um..." I whispered to a wide-eyed Liz. "Are you sure we have the right place?"

The taxi driver was driving up to what seemed to be a Victorian mansion. And it wasn't a light-hearted one either. It was literally what you would think of when somebody talks about where Dracula lives.

"His grandparents must be rich!" Liz exclaimed in awe.

"What do you mean?"

"That was the 'business' he had to take care of. His grandparents died and left him this estate."

"Liz, this is creepy."

"Calm down Lola," she replied. I guess her nervousness subsided and mines just rose. "It's just a house."

"That's what they think in Scooby Doo. But then some freak in a scary costume comes out and tries to kill them."

"That's what you're scared of? Trick or Treaters?"

I rolled my eyes. "Whatever Liz. He IS your boyfriend, I guess."

Liz and I climbed out of the cab and gripped our suitcases. We took one look at each other and we proceeded towards the front door.

There was a knocker.

I don't know if this is just, like, Romania's culture but I didn't know many people with actual knockers with the head of a gorgon on it.

My best friend didn't think about it much, seeing as she simply took it in her fist and banged it against the door three times.

We waited about a minute before we heard chains and the door opened, showing Zayn.

"You made it safely!" He exclaimed, a smile on his face. He hugged Liz tightly and gave her a long kiss, leaving me tapping my foot and my eyes showing a mixture of boredom and disgust.
