"Mychell!"
"Yes mama?", I mumbled.
"Get up before you're late."
"Late for what? It's the first weekend of summer vacation."
"Girl, get your ass up. You know you got a hair appointment."
That got me right up. I needed a good ass touch up. I showered and dressed within 30 minutes. I met my mom downstairs in the kitchen.
"Have you called Terry to wish him a happy birthday", she said, reminding me.
"Mom! I forgot! I should call him before we leave."
"No Chell. It's early and knowing your brother, he barely just got in to the house.", she said, referring to Terry's dealer life.
My mom La'Chell was that chick real type chick. Wasn't afraid to speak her mind. I don't blame my father, Sincere, for falling for her in the first place. She is beautiful to the bone. Honey brown complexion, light brown eyes, and in shape after having two kids.
La'Chell and Sincere named me after her, well almost. Her and I are like twins just I'm way taller.
"Where's daddy?"
"Upstairs. On a verge for an ass whoopin."
"What he do now?"
"The nigga stayed out with his little played out crew all night and had the nerve to come in here drunk."
"Nobody was drunk! Now get me some coffee", Sincere said, surprising both of us.
"You aren't handicap. Get your hungover ass over here and get it", La'Chell snapped back.
"La hush", he paused and turned his attention on me,"Hey baby girl.Your up kinda early."
"Hair appointment, daddy."
"Damn, this early."
"Mhm. Why the hell are you up", La'Chell snapped again.
"Headache", he calmly replied.
"Hm."
"Well, ma. Don't you think it's time to go?", I asked, breaking the awkwardness.
La'Chell couldn't resist Sincere and his smile for long. When I wasn't looking they would make love faces. But at the same time, no female can resist Sincere's smile, with dimples along with it. No wonder females threw themselves at him and Terry.
La'Chell and I talked about anything and everything on our way to the salon. When we got there she handed me two hundred dollars.
My home girl, Riesha, recommend me to a hairstylist named Toriea a while back. After the first time she did my hair, I became addicted. Torie knew how to work a pressing comb.
"What you want today?" Toriea asked.
"Same ole."
"A wrap?"
"Yes ma'am"
I left that salon looking top notch. I caught the bus to Terry's house to wish him a happy birthday.
I had to admit, he is doing good for himself just to be 19. I was truly happy for him.
When I finally got up to his house, I was relieved that I had my key he gave me. I wanted to surprise him.
I let myself in and there was no presence in the front of the house. So I traveled to the back where the bedrooms were. I knew I would find him back there but not laid up with no chick.
