Chapter 16: Actual Conversation

-Monae POV-

It is finally lunch time and I'm happy but I wasn't joking when I said I was gonna fall asleep in every class. I walked out of History class still tired I swear that man is so damn boring.

I was circling the pages in my book that I have for homework tonight, when someone walked right into me. My book and pencil fell along with his papers and I bent down with him.

"My fault" he said helping me.

"It's cool" I said looking up to see JoJo.

"Oh, hey JoJo" I said standing back up.

"Wassup, um" he said not knowing my name.

"Monae" I said sticking my hand out.

"Wassup Monae" he said shaking my hand.

"Nothing I was tryna go to my locker" I replied.

"Oh aight but my bad though. I ain't mean - to you know" he said and I laughed a little.

"Don't even sweat it" I said and right now it feels like we're the only two in the hallway.

"Yo JoJo" K-Ci yelled from down the hall.

"Monae" I heard my girls scream from the other side of the hall.

"I'ma see you around aight" he said smiling .

"Yeah" I said smiling back as we parted our separate ways. I walked over to Savannah's and Jade's locker smiling.

"So we see that someone is happy" Savannah said smiling a little.

"Yeah" I replied bouncing side to side.

"Look at you blushing" Jade said pinching my cheeks.

"I ain't never seen a darkskin person turn red" Chloe said.

"Me neither so what were you and JoJo chattin' about" Savannah asked.

"Nothing really it was small conversation" I said shrugging.

"Small convo like what" Chloe asked.

"Can we go get some food" I said rolling my eyes and trying to hide my smile. We walked down the hall and out of the school.

We walked down the stairs and over to our normal spot, sitting down. I looked up to see Jodeci across from us and cleared my throat.

"Wassup" Jade asked realizing what I did.

"I spy with my little eye" I said.

"Jodeci" they all said together and then we laughed.

"Ding ding ding! We have three winners" I cheered and we all laughed again.

"I think they're talking about us because they keep looking over at us" I thought but shrugged the feeling off.

"Oh yay! Tony finally made it" Savannah cheered in a soft voice.

We all got up and walked over to Tony and his food trolley. I never noticed how cute Tony actually is: Light skin but could pass for Caucasian, light brown eyes, flat top, very built, small gap between his teeth.

"Hey Tony tone" I said laughing a little and he did too.

"Wassup y'all" he asked opening his food trolley.

"Nothing how's your day going" Savannah asked him.

"Its better now" he said smiling down at her. She blushed and turned away.

"Alright now!" Chloe said cheering them on.

"Anything new on the menu" Jade asked.

"I have nacho cheese" he said.

"I'll take that and a bottle of sprite" Jade said.

"I'll have a small fries and an Orange Crush" Savannah said.

"What would you two like" Tony asked referring to me and Chloe.

"Uh let me have a hot dog and a bottle of water" I said pulling my money out.

"I'll have a plain slice and a bottle of water" Chloe said pulling her money out.

We all paid for our stuff and then walked back to our little area.

-JoJo POV-

"So how y'all little plan going" I asked.

"Mine is all good we doing something after school" K-Ci said.

"Something like what" I asked.

"Just tryna get to know her so I can do what I gotta do" he said.

"Well Chloe is supposedly tutoring me" Dalvin said.

"Me and Savannah working on some shit after school" DeVante said.

"Well I ain't doing anything. Guess I'ma hit the studio" I said shrugging.

"Yeah you do that" Dalvin said.

"I don't know why you just don't join in" K-Ci said.

"Unlike y'all its something called RESPECT" I said loudly.

"Whatever man" DeVante said.

"Lets go get somethin' to eat" Dalvin said and we started walking back to the school.
