PROLOG

Girl named Anna with her dog, Park leaves the orphanage to go alone in the world to see what the real world is really like little does she know she will be experiencing the darkest and most heartless places and people any town has ever known.

First Person

Part 1

I lay in bed the rusted mettle biting its way through the mattress the sharp cold mettle against my back and legs is overwhelmingly uncomfortable. i open my eyes and study the people around the room also sleeping in tiny cot like beds. unable to stay laying still carefully i sat up and crept across the room to the window the pale moon light reflecting across the alleyway i search for movement near the boxes hoping Park was okay flare of hope shot through me as i saw Park laying in-between an assortment of boxes. suddenly there was the sound of heavy footsteps of not a child but an adult not thinking twice i dashed back to my bed and pretended to sleep the flurry of thin weightless covers around me settling seemingly in slow motion. relief passed through me as i listened to the footsteps fade away into the sound of nothingness. the next morning the sun glared through the window some other children awake most still were asleep.

"Anna! Anna!" a girl in a nightgown plain and grey approached me as i shuffle my sheets around to make my bed look somewhat neat. "You won't believe this! There is going to be a couple coming today!" she was obviously exited, she had everything she needed to be adopted. She's cute small and she has freckles something that will get you just about anything around here. Unfortunately the orphanage was as uneventful as prison.

"Okay girls time to get ready for school." School the one thing i excel at in the orphan world today was the last day of school and i wasn't going to look like an orphan i was going to look like a regular kid with a regular house and a regular life. At least thats what i hope.

skipping school was as easy as pie well not really but unfortunately i had places to be and Park to take care of so i could really only stick around to walk into school and to walk out of school. the orphanage doesn't care about number of absences or report cards so it was easy to not do homework if i didn't even get it and i wasn't even there.

"Ugh" mumbling to myself about the school bus "how am i going to sneak Park on the bus today?" accidentally saying it aloud immediately shutting my mouth and searching the room of anyone who could of heard me the room was a panic everyone was scrambling to put on school clothing, straiten there bed and get out of the room.

later after breakfast we all sorted ourselves into lines and one at a time loaded not the bus, being last i quickly beckoned Park over. Park hoped into my backpack and being last i cimbed up the stairs of the bus and walked to the back sitting in a vacant row.
