The Comm-plete family gathered together for the annual general assembly held last July 5, in the Adamson University (AdU) Theater.
MAC Singers, MAC Dancers and the newest addition to the Comm-unity, MACoustics performed a grand opening number with stunning voices and swag moves which ignited the crowd to the nth level. Professor Marc Pacoma made everybody go wilder as he strutted his stuff on the stage.
Dr. Servillano Marquez Jr., Dean of the College of Education and Liberal Arts (CELA), welcomed the comm-plete family with his opening remarks followed by the audio-visual presentation of what happened last year and what to expect this year.
Since the course A.B. in Communication is on the fourth level of accreditation by the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA), it is anticipated that there will be more events, seminars and workshops. Ricky Lee's Media Writing and Ramon Bautista's Communication Technology seminar-workshops are some of what the students should look forward to.
The top ten students in the second, third and fourth year, AdSpeak Congress 2013 winners and Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP) Grand Prix Competition finalists were awarded with certificates as Dean Marquez and the Chairperson of the Department of Communication, Mari Jeanie Derillo congratulated them.
Adamson University Mass Communication Society (AUMaCommS) officers, MAC Singers, MAC Dancers, MACoustics, Falcon Radio Station (FRS) disc jockeys and Papyrus members were recognized during the assembly and the Faculty Members were formally introduced as well. A surprise song number by Professors Joel Zaporteza, Glenn Irwin Reynon and Marianne Escanilla won the screams and shouts of the audience with their jaw-dropping "Thousand Years-Gold-Love on Top" performance.
The department lanyard was launched but its price and date of availability is still on hold. Nevertheless, the presentation of the AUMaCommS' projects for the academic year 2013-2014 like Media Congress and Comm-unity Night, enlightened the students with a glimpse of what they can count on. In addition, several raffle draws were conducted where Adamson ballpens, tumblers, umbrellas, shirts and Yahoo! earphones were given away.
"It was so fun!" said first year A.B. in Communication student, Joshua Fabros. "I was not ashamed to express myself through shouting, jumping, dancing and feeling the vibe. We all had a 'good time' especially with Ma'am Jen. It is so fun in the Comm-unity and I hope that there will be more events like this to come."
"Spectacular!" said fourth year A.B. in Communication student, Marianne Louie Ramones. "Indeed, it was the best general assembly ever. I really felt that the Comm-unity was united and there were no barriers because even our professors performed. I salute the AUMaCommS for such a grand production and thank them for making my last year in Adamson memorable."
Everyone had a blast as the Comm-unity laughed their hearts out singing, "It's always a good time," as performed by Chairperson Derillo and danced to the hit K-POP song "Gentleman" in the end of the program. The impact of this general assembly continues to linger on the thoughts of every Communication student.
