Chapter 20

-3 Weeks Later-

Kelly's P.O.V

Right now it's chaos. It's nearly time to go to prom and we're all at Kate's house getting ready. It's a flurry of hair and fabric. I'm in my dress and Kate got a specialist to style my hair. She styled it into half up half down curly braid and it suits my dress perfectly. Everyone else is ready and the doorbell goes, letting us know the boys are here. We decide to go down one at a time and me and Kate hang back while Sadie, Kate's friends Alisha, Jean, Kerry, Fiona and Barbara go one by one and then I go down. I instantly meet Luke's eyes and his eyes widen. 'You look so beautiful' He says and pecks my lips. Kate's mom Agatha makes us squash together for photos and Luke's arm winds around my waist. When Agatha is finally happy Luke pulls out a small black box. 'I.....uh I got you a wrist corsage' Luke says and opens a box to reveal a small pale red Gardenia corsage with a white ribbon. 'It's so pretty' I say and Luke slips it on my writs, offering me his arm to link. I link his arm and set out, wobbling slightly in my heels. He reveals a black limo all the crew have squashed into. The girls dates, Drew, William, Dudley, Chris, Lucas [Sadie's date], Toby, Riley [Kate's date] and finally me and Luke. We all squash in and chat excitedly about prom. We crack open a bottle of champagne and after 2 sips I stop because I've already begun to feel giddy. The driver pulls up and everyone piles out. Luke takes my hand, helping me out. We walk slowly, arm in arm to the hall and when I get in I immediately pull Luke to the dance floor because my favourite song is on. We sway slowly, Luke's arms around my waist and I feel like I'd love to freeze time and stay in Luke's arms forever. We go and grab a couple of cokes, downing them and the birdie dance comes on. I look at Luke and he shakes his head vigorously. 'No frigging way' He says but I just look at him sadly. He sighs. 'You'll kill me you know that' He says and I giggle. We go to the middle of the floor and everyone starts dancing to the birdie song. I swear I've never laughed so much in ages. We dance for hours until my feet feel like they're about to fall off. When we're slow dancing again near the end of prom Luke bends down and kisses me fiercely. His lips moving against mine proves that Heaven exists. I was in it. My hands went around his neck and I tug his hair, causing him to moan. He pulls away and I rest my head on his chest, feeling his beating heart. Half an hour later Luke walks me home because we only paid for the limo on the ride to prom. We stop at my door. I sigh. 'Thank you for the best night of my life' I say and he kisses me meaningfully. I pull away and unlock the door, glancing at him again before closing the door and going up to bed. I open the door to my room to see Mum standing there with tears rolling down her cheeks. 'Y-You Never told me tonight was the N-N-N-Night o-of y-y-your P-Prom' She sobs and pulls me into a hug. I hug her back. 'I'm sorry Mum, I mean to but I forgot' I say. 'Y-you l-l-l-look s-s-so beautiful' She cries into my neck and my stomach clenches with guilt. 'C-can w-w-we t-take a p-p-picture together?' She asks hopefully and I nod. She positions the camera and we hug, taking the picture. We both go to bed happy.
