"Hey honey, we need to talk?" Devin's mother called at the bottom of the staircase. Devin was painting her walls black with a white design,
"Yes mother? I'm painting, do i have to come down?"
"Sweetie... its about your father's promotion."
"Ooh he got it!" Devin put her brush back in the black paint and ran out her room, pulling off her apron. She jumped over the railing and landed behind her mother.
"Ah! Devin!!! Don't jump off the house."
"What? This is great news!"
"Come on, Devin you know what I mean..." Her mother glared playfully.
"Sooo... Dad's promotion?"
"Yes sweetie, Come sit," This notion scared Devin, she raised an eyebrow following her mom into the living room. Devin and her mother sat on the couch.
"Alright, Devin listen to me your father and I have put a lot of thought into this and thought it would be best to tell you now after his promotion went through all the way... and so well he's... we're going to have to move to a different city completely.... Umm...live in Arizona,"
" Wait! Wait what? Arizona! That's on the other side of the country ...what about Johnny and Ariel and.. and mom what!?" Devin started panicking.
"Honey, listen to me it's going to be ok! We're just moving for a year or two and we will be back one day. You can finish High School there, you can make friends only two years...I mean you're a sophomore right now," her mom seems so calm about this... Devin however was freaking out in her head.
"Mom..." Devin quietly mumbled.
"Honey, i know this is scary but we will be fine. " her mother placed her hand on her knee.
"Okay... Okay... Just no renting cause i want my room PAINTED!" She emphasized.
"Yeah, yeah, now go start packing. " Devin got up not darong to look at her mom, she climb up the stairs to her room and grabbed her phone nearly sobbing. She dialed a number.

"Devi! Heeeyyy what's up you haven't called my sexy ass in over a week!" Johnny joked over the other end, while Devin whimpered. "Devi? Was that you? Devin!?" The words caught in her throat.
"J..." she croaked starting to let the tears fall. "I... Im g-"
"Babe I'll be over in ten. You're crying on my way. " the slamming of his trunk door ended that call as Devin broke down in tears.
Johnny; however got to her house, and hopped the fence and climbed the train of branches and rope to get into Devin's room. He opened the window to find his best friend sobbing inti her pillow.
"Devi-poo?" he tried being cute stepping into her bedroom. Devin shot up with her near always prefect make-up smeared down her face. She sat up to look at him and whimper, quivering her lips.
"Devi... What happened?"
"I'm moving to... Arizona..."
"Mexican racist land?" he got her to chuckle.
"Yeah... Dad got the promotion..."
"Thought the promotion was higher up chair?" she nodded as he sat next to her on the bed.
"In... A different state. "
"What's the other options?"
"I don't have one..."
"Devin? Wh- hello Johnny? Why Dont you just knock and come on in normally?"
"Normal is boring. " he smirked making Devin's mom grin.
"Devin what do you wanna eat?"
"Nothing..." her depression suffered.
Johnny saw through her hugging her.
"She would like whatever you wanna make cause Johnny boy here wants some."
"J i aint hungry."
"Okay spaghetti it is!"
"That's depression 101 talking boo," he rolled ontop of her. Causing her to laugh,
"J get off meeeee!" she half whinned, laughing as well.
He moved to tickling her armpits making her to laugh more.
"Jaaayyyy stop haha stahpp itttt!" her laughter was silenced by the slamming of a car door. Johnny instantly got up while Devin got up fixing her face.
"Shit! In the closet!" Devin mumbled. Johnny nodded and did so as her father's foot steps got louder up the stairs. Devin grabbed her paint brush and went back to painting.
"Lillian?" her father opened the door to her room.
"Yes, father?"
"Did your mother talk to you about the move?" Devin turned to face him, looking down and nodding.
"Good start packing we are moving on Friday, tell you're friends you will be down to the house for vacation." her dad walked over to the closet.
"Hello Johnny. " Devin's eyes widen with fear. "You can come out, I'll allow you here for dinner."
Johnny sheepishly opens the door.
"Sorry sir..." he spoke.
"No I understand she is moving to the other side of the country so spend as much as time as you want, just no funny business!" he poked Johnny's nose.
"That's what Ariel is for..." Johnny bragged. Devin slapped him upside his head. Her father laughed,
"Need any condoms just ask boy. "
"Dad!" they laughed as he left the room.
"See he likes me."
"Cause you're not attracted to me."
"I'm just loyal." he was being blunt making her blush.
"Whatever..." Devin mimbled sitting on her bed.
