Chapter 5

Recap: The rest of the day my mother went out, most likely drowning her worries by drinking leaving me at home on a Saturday night.

I stayed in bed watching Netflix for the entire day checking my temperature once in a while.

I thought back to the blonde boy that I met back at the music store a few days back. I still remembered his gold blonde curly locks, his beautiful shocking blue eyes, his pink lips with the black lip ring.

He was handsome to say the least.

I still felt a pang of guilt in my chest for lying to him.

I woke up with a massive headache the following morning. Although these last few days were very rough, I did not expect it to be like this. My mom had been out these next few days and unfortunately did not forget about my new 'job.' I was scheduled to start tomorrow at 5 o'clock sharp, right after school. I groaned when I reached the empty kitchen. Obviously there was never any food around here.

I went into the nearest bathroom and proceeded to brush my teeth. Of course I was the one doing all the grocery shopping and chores around here without any kind of help. I put on my hoodie and some random shoes and headed out the door.

A few more blocks and I found myself in the local grocery store. I ignored the inappropriate catcalls from the local college kids riding around in their fancy expensive cars with no worries, knowing mommy and daddy will pay for them when I was only a junior in high school trying not to fail at life and trying to make a living for both me and my mom.

I grabbed a plastic basket from the stand and walked over the leftover wrappers scattered on the ground. I wandered around the aisles occasionally sneaking a cookie out of an Oreo pack. I mean one cookie couldn't hurt right?

After noticing I've spent about 10 minutes wandering around, I first picked up the essentials like milk, water, and my favorite... ramen noodles. I've been obsessed with those noodles for the longest time, and since my mom didn't usually cook dinner for the both of us, I eventually got used just heating them up. I was about to get in line when I gasped, suddenly gaining the attention from nearby shoppers. I realized that I forgot my special yogurt. I walked quickly going back to dairy aisle when someone shouted to me.

"Katheryn!" a aussie accent called. Oh no. I turned my back to see Luke standing before me. I forgot that I told him my fake name was Kathryn.

"Hey Luke." I fake smiled. This was bad. I need to leave asap.

"How've you been?" he asked politely. At least he wasn't like any of those stupid college kids asking if I wanna 'have fun.'

"Um great, how about you?" I asked wanting to be polite when all I wanted to do was leave this awkward conversation.

"Pretty slow actually my brother-" Luke launched into a full long conversation about something about his brother at college or his job, I wouldn't know I wasn't listening to be honest.

"Well thats great Luke sorry I have to leave like right now!" I quickly said, cutting him off. I saw the disappointed and sad look on his face when I said the words I knew I would regret.

"Can I have your number, we should talk some more"

After Luke and I exchanged our numbers, having him very happy about it, I finally checked out and went back home to plop on my couch with my delicious noodles while old re-runs of Friends were on air. My mouth were full of noodles when I heard a soft ding go off my phone.

I smiled and rolled my eyes. What a dork.

kath: new phone who dis

I decided to have at least a tiny bit fun with him.

luke: Kathryn cut the crap i know its u lol

kath: lmao i know

luke: wyd

kath: nothing tbh, wbu

I knew this conversation would go nowhere and would probably end up being awkward so I decided to finally start a conversation.

kath: r u doing anything this Saturday

luke: idk, wbu

Oh gosh it was hard to strike a conversation with him.

kath: anyways, wanna hang out sometime

luke: yeah sure, when do you wanna

kath: we should go see a movie or something

luke:kk

After that we decided the details and agreed to go this Saturday night since neither of us had any plans.

I felt my stomach grumble and thought that those noodles did not fill me up, I got up and went to look at the fridge for some food. That was when I realized that I forgot to buy my yogurt back at the store.

Damnit.

sorry for the short chapter I wasn't expecting to update today but I felt like I should. Anyways life is being so mean to me and does not allow me to have enough time to write a decent chapter so :(((
