This is purely a fan based short story that I have wrote myself while abroad and on holiday in France.
Chapter 1: KYLE AND HIS PARENTS
It was the last day of term at Hollingdale Junior School. Everyone was in a good mood. Teachers who were known for giving out detentions allowed pupils to play on their gadgets And even the Headmaster was going to join in the whole school water fight that every pupil was looking forward to. It was the last day before the 6 week holidays in summer. Friends were discussing plans and telling others where they were going on holiday. Kyle Blueman was in Year 6. This would be his last day at Hollingdale. Like most other kids he was planning which teacher he hated most and which he was going to drench. He decided on Mrs Watson. She taught Kyle history and was, as he described her a witch. She walked around the classroom while her pupils copied hundreds of words off sheets and anyone who stepped out of line could expect a detention.
Kyle was walking back to his best mate Matthew's house. He was in a great mood but drenched from the water fight. He had been invited to his friends house for the night when Mr Birkhead, the headmaster caught up and asked if he would come back to school for a word in his office.
It was when Kyle entered the headmaster's office he knew something was wrong. He was greeted by a Police Officer and asked to take a seat. It was then he was told the truth about his parents. He had always been told by his parents that they owned their own private business. It was now that he found out that this was false. Apparently they had been murdered in an arson attack, that they were drugs traffickers and that they imported weapons into Britain. The Police Officer introduced a lady in a smart skirt and blouse as Jennifer Mitchum. He was told she was going to adopt him. He suddenly felt empty, felt a sharp scratch in his upper arm and fainted.
Chapter 2: CAMPUS
Kyle woke up in a bed naked. He was unsure how he had got there but he put on the orange shirt and combat trousers provided. He then left his room and entered the lift. He asked where to go but both the black shirt and navy shirt said " can't talk to orange ". However though they did point down and then upon arriving at the ground floor was led to a door. It said on it Doctor Terence McAfferty, Chairman. He entered and was told about the concept of CHERUB and its advantages. He was then given a tour of campus and started his entrance exam.
The first test was one of his strengths. Swimming. He simply had to swim to the end of the pool and collect 2 bricks in 2 minutes. He completed it in 1 minute 29 seconds. The next test the worst possible thing they could have had to ask him to do. Slit a chickens throat to kill it instantly. Kyle had always been afraid of lots of blood and refused. The next was a test in the dojo. He had to fight another agent . In this case Michael Norris. He was small with big arm muscles and massive thighs. He put up a fight but lost 3-1. He was shattered by this point but still had the 2 hour English and Maths test. He only just finished but was pretty confident with his score. Finally came the height obstacle. It was easy enough for Kyle. He wasn't sure at first about the idea of a 50 meter drop but once at the top the thrill and adrenaline rush was great for him. Then came a minor fitness test which was a breeze for Kyle.
Chapter 3: WELCOME TO CHERUB
1 day later.
Mac invited Kyle into his office the following day and told him the results of his recruitment tests. After a long wait he was told he was now an official CHERUB agent and that he would be starting basic training in 2 weeks. Not long. He was given a key to his room on the 6th floor and with the help of Michael Norris he carried his belongings up to the 6th floor.
Chapter 4: BASIC TRAINING
7 weeks later
Kyle was tired, worn out, muddy, cold and hungry yet he was only 39 days into basic training !!! There were only 8 CHERUB's left at this stage as 2 had dropped out, 1 with a sprained ankle and another with a broken arm. It was Christmas Day and Kyle told himself this was definitely the worst Christmas of his life. What made it worse was the fact he could smell Christmas Dinner being cooked by the dinner ladies and hear his friends having a snowball fight but here he was climbing through a muddy obstacle course and doing push-ups, sit-ups and star jumps. How was he going to survive another 61 days of the misery that is basic training. His fellow basic training partner Callum O'Connor was just the same as himself suffering the effects of basic training and looking ready to pull out at any moment. There was nothing to look forward to. They had cold showers and small tasteless meals. Never mind the mean, cruel instructors who pushed them to their limits.
57 days later.
Kyle and the other 3 remaining CHERUB's were woken up at 6:00am to finally start their last day of basic training in Britain and were following the same schedule as usual, now running 10 laps of the basic training compound followed by 50 sit-ups, 50 push-ups, 100 star jumps and a 5 minute cold shower before another breakfast that included the leftover cold porridge and the previous day's milk. However the final 4 trainees were in a good mood as they had the day off as they were travelling to an island which was unknown to the trainees at that point.
4 hours later.
The trainees were in first class on a Virgin Boing 757 heading for Brazil. The trainees were being given the joy of being in first class and were allowed to treat themselves to food and drink on the condition as soon as they landed no food or drink was to be taken with them. Kyle and his fellow trainees ate all they could on the 10 hour flight as this was the only 10 hours where they were allowed to eat and drink what they wanted for the whole 100 day course but despite the joy, Kyle knew this was only going to mean a tougher last few days but he felt good to finally feel warm and relaxed.
3 days later. Time: 6pm
Kyle and Callum had survived the whole of basic training together and they weren't going to fail now. Their deadline to get to the hut with their grey shirts in was 7pm. They could see the small brown shack just across the river, but the big question they were unsure of was what was in that river. They were in the Amazon. They had the equipment for a life raft but was that enough to beat one of the many dangerous rivers in the forest. They sat thinking of an idea...
Time: 6:20.
Kyle finally came up with a plan. He was unsure but finally decided their only chance was to inflate both rafts, and if one was popped jump to the other and paddle the last bit. The river was only 20 meters wide so Kyle was pretty sure that whatever dangerous creature lurked beneath the water it wouldn't pop both rafts in time. It was a risk he was willing to take to ensure that grey shirt would be his and Callum's.
They set off with 30 mins to go. They used oars to paddle as fast as they could. They suddenly heard a massive splash and a few piranhas appeared millimetres from their raft. They kept paddling and let the air go down gradually, before at the last second leaping across to the other raft. 12 meters down, 8 to go. They paddled as fast as they could now as they knew the piranhas weren't far away. With 2 meters to go they heard a quick hiss of air as the raft went down. They didn't know what it was that caused the puncture but instinct made Kyle throw himself to safety. Would Callum make it? Callum thrust himself and landed a meter short. The piranhas were on him straight away. One opened its mouth to bite his toe. It suddenly fell into the water and sunk along with a few others. Kyle started throwing rocks at the piranhas as Callum rolled on to the embankment.
Time: 6:59:45
Kyle checked his watch before shouting Callum telling them they had 15 seconds to sprint the final 70 meters. Was he going to make it. The clock was ticking as Kyle and Connor crashed through the door of the hut. Kyle checked his watch. 7:00:01. Had they reached the door on time or not. According to up his watch no but was it out of sync? They would find out tomorrow.
2 days later. Cherub Campus.
Kyle and Callum walked through the 6th floor corridor to their rooms wearing their grey shirts. They had been told by Doctor McAfferty that according to a sensor on the door of the hut it had been opened at 6:59:58:54 meaning they had finished with 1.46 seconds remaining. Definitely a close call!!! The two however were now CHERUB agents and were qualified to go on missions.
To find out how Kyle does on his first mission read my next book which I am now writing called: CHERUB. KYLE'S FIRST MISSION

The series of books I have just promoted are completely Robert Muchamore's work and I am taking no credit.
This is my first book so please vote,
