                                           Chapter Nine – Jitters

A date. It’s just a simple date why should I be worrying about it so much? I don’t know why I can’t just relax and not worry. I want everything to be perfect.

All the thoughts racing through my mind is over bearing. What if I don’t wear the right thing? What if I do something wrong? What if he doesn’t want me to be his girlfriend anymore? With all these thoughts I can barely think straight.

“Cameron, you have basically been living with him for the past three days. He likes you. He has liked you for a long time and I don’t think he is going to leave you anytime soon,” Erica reassure me as I sit on the bathroom floor with my hands in my hair. “What if he thinks I’m a slob or I don’t know ugh,” I groan leaning back against the tub. “I think he already knows you are a slob. Remember he has been in your room,” she tries to crack a joke. “Haha,” I laugh sarcastically,” seriously Erica I really like him.” “And he really likes you to so get up and go put on your clothes it’s almost seven,” she pulls me up from the floor. I grunt but don’t resist,” What do I wear?” She goes into my closet and pulls out a pink jacket. “Yes, that’s perfect!” she hands it to me and I pull out a gray tank top. “That goes great,” she smiles. I grin with newfound excitement and grab my favorite pair of dark, denim jeans and nude heels.

We walk out of my closet and into the bathroom. I strip my old clothes off and replace them with the new outfit. I leave the jacket off to do my hair and make-up. My hair falls down in waves when I pull it out of its original bun. “How should I do my hair?” I ask her. “Personally I like your hair just like it is right now. It will go very well with the outfit,” she smiles. “So now all I like to do is my make up,” I pull my hair into a low loose ponytail.

Ten minutes later my make up is perfect and my hair is falling down my back in waves. “Do I look okay?” I ask doing a full 360 spin. “Sweetie, you look gorgeous,” she smiles. “Thank you but I feel like I’m missing something,” I look at myself in the mirror. “Well first you need some jewelry and then maybe a bag,” she goes into my closet and finds a nude purse. “What about this too?” I hold up my teal jewelry and the diamond ring my grandma gave me. “Perfect. Now get your booty down those stairs because you have an amazing, gorgeous guy waiting on you,” she nudges me. I pick up my cell phone and wallet before we go down the stairs.

As I walk down the steps I hear a camera flash. “Ugh,” I shield my eyes. When the white light goes away I look to see my mom, sister, Jessie, Stiles, Lyric, Scott, and Isaac. He looks up and smiles at me. I blush and walk down the rest of the stairs. “Mom what are you doing home?” I ask. “It’s my baby girl’s first date. I need pictures,’ she clicks a picture of me with Isaac,” and I want to meet your boyfriend but it looks like I already had. Lahey, treat my daughter right.” I give Mom the shut up look and she innocently smiles at me. “We are leaving,” I laugh starting to go to the door. “Not before I get a picture of you two with all of your friends since they are here,” Mom looks at my friends,” and your brother.”

Isaac and I stand next to each other with Lyric and Scott to my right and Stiles and Erica to Isaac’s left. We all smile at the camera and the flash goes off. “Now kiss and everyone else pretend to be grosses out,” Mom goes on pretending to be a photographer. Isaac takes me and kisses me and all the blood rushes to my cheeks. The flash goes off and he lets go. “Now can we go Mom?” I ask with a grin. She nods and hands me the keys. “Thank you we should be back around nine thirty,” we start for the door.  “Be careful,” they yell as we shut the door.
