I woke up in the morning and Dean wasn't in bed anymore. I rolled over to sleep a bit longer, assuming he either went to the bathroom or went to research some more. As I rolled over, I noticed a vase on the bedside table with a dozen roses. Beneath it was an envelope. I sat up and opened the envelope.
Anna,
I know this is all new for you, but I never stopped loving you. Every day since I sent you to the other world, I hoped for you to be safe and to one day come back to me. Every year on our anniversary, I left you a vase of roses and I made a special breakfast even though I knew you wouldn't be there to eat it. It's cheesy but I wasn't gonna give up on the memories of you. When you're up and ready, come to the kitchen. (It's down the hall and down some stairs). I love you.
-Dean
I was so flabbergasted by how much Dean continued to be a sweetheart and romantic despite me not being around. I never would have expected that. I got dressed and walked to the kitchen. It took some searching but I did finally find it. He greeted me with a hug and a kiss.
"Happy anniversary." He stated happily. "I can't believe it's been 7 years since we got married. I love you so much."
"I love you too, Dean." He handed me a plate of his special breakfast. It was a plate full of chocolate chip pancakes with syrup and whipped cream on top. It looked so good. I took a bite and was in awe. "Wow Dean, these are amazing!"
"Thanks." We all sat at the table and dug in. All three of us were lost in the food. "I'm gonna go change babe." He stated once we were done eating. He was after all still in his PJs. I followed him to our room.
"You really got me roses and made that breakfast every year?" I asked as he put his shirt on.
"Yep. Every year. Which, I have a question by the way. I won't be offended if the answer is no. I swear I won't be." I nodded expectantly. "Do you want your ring back on?" He asked.
"Of course. We're married aren't we?"
"Yeah, but I didn't know if you'd want to since you don't remember marrying me." He answered.
"It doesn't matter if I remember. We're still married. Why do you have it and I wasn't wearing it?"
"I had you take it off so it wouldn't cause you problems over there. I didn't know how it would work there and I figured it'd be less hard on you." He stated sadly, clearly regretting that choice.
"It's ok. Don't feel bad." I stated genuinely. I knew he felt bad for sending me away. He opened the drawer in his bedside table and pulled out a little box. He got the ring out and got down on one knee.
"Anna, you're the love of my life. Will you.... Wear your ring?" He asked with a chuckle.
"Why of course, Dean." He slid it onto my finger then wrapped me in a hug and placed a kiss on my forehead.
"I forgot to show you the engraving." He added. He gently pulled it off of my finger and showed me. It said 'our love is sweeter than pie' I couldn't hold back a laugh.
"You laughed the first time too. It's true. I love pie and I love my car, but I love you so much more. You are the greatest thing to ever happen to me."
"You're the best thing to ever happen to me too, Dean." He wrapped me in a hug.
"So happy you're back here with me where we belong-together." He said with a smile. I couldn't help the couple of tears that fell.
"Hey, why are you crying?" I simply shook my head. "Anna, talk to me. What's wrong?"
"Just go do your research, Dean. Don't worry about it." I replied. I didn't think he'd understand.
