I relax into my hammock with my newest book in hand, I've been dying to read it for months and only now just got it. As I open the front cover I groan as I read the text 'Hello Fate, Ol' Da speaking. I was wondering if before you started in on the book if you could turn your head to the left.' Knowing that there was no way out of this I reluctantly crane my head and yup, there she is. My granny, or at least I call her my granny, she's big, she's blue, and she's old; the TARDIS or Time And Relative Dimensions In Space. During just about all of my vacations I spend it there, the rest of the time I'm in this big house mostly alone except for when my mom comes home.

"GRANNY!!" I run up and hug the box, think it weird as you will but she adores me all the same. She hums at my hug and Doc opens the door. He's changed his look. Instead of his normal tweed and such, he's gone more Victorian, he still has the bowtie. Upon noticing this I roll my eyes and chuckle as I go to hug him. "How old are you now?" One of my very often questions, he always answers the same but I hope one day he'll tell me.

"Old enough to be your father." He laughs, and holds me tighter.

"Who's that?" I voice I've never heard before asks.

I look up and see a girl about my height with long brown hair and a round face, her eyes show a very deep curiosity. Realization hits me, my mother has told me about all of Doc's companions as she calls them. I step away from Doc and immediately do my shtick.

"Your Fate at your service."

"My fate?" She  looks at me confused.

"Your fate, everyone's fate,  the fate, Thee Fate If ya please, or just Fate." I laugh as I finish my intro. "And lemme guess, you're Clara Oswin Oswald, correct?"

Cue shock face, "Yes, how would you know that?"

"Ma told me, she tells me all about Doc's Girlies and Guys."

Cue eyebrow raise to Doc, "Girlies?"

Cue panic Doc," N-not like that! Fate, explain!" Oooohh he likes her. This is gonna be fun.

" My mom is my Da's or Doc's wife, name River Song. I'm their kid. And she knows all about the...Female friends and a few males that he brings aboard." I smirk as Doc's face pales at me explaining.

"Oh? So there were more 'girlies'?"

"I only call them girlies, he calls them friends, everyone else calls them companions. But the one or two male species have been here too. But, don't get offended, he doesn't tell anyone that other people have been on here. So, it's not just a you thing." I smile as I try to smooth things over.

"Oh...Well it's nice to meet you Fate."

"The pleasure's mine Oswin."

"My first name's Clara."

"Oh, I know, but Oswin just sounds awesome, like something outta Harry Potter. Which reminds me..." I turn to Da. Who by now is nervously fiddling with the control panel.

"Ahem" Catching his attention.

"Oh, yes well..." He stutters.

"It was a first edition! No, you couldn't write it on a new copy of The Book Theif could you?! No it had to be the first edition Frankenstien!"

"Well, I didn't think you'd care, to be honest."

"NOT CARE?!?! You of all people should know how I am with books, we've had days of conversation about books that I've read, how I liked them. And if the historical fiction ones were accurate!!" I seethe.

"Well, how 'bout I make it up to you?" He offers.

"Oh?"

"What if I take you to meet her?"

Jaw drops, "Mary Shelley?!?!?!?! YES YOU WOULD BE FORGIVEN!!"

"Well then, GERONIMO!" He flips the switch.

"TALLY-HO!"

And we were off for I don't even know how long.
