+Emma Griffon+

I wake up and blink a few times to get adjusted to the bright light. I look around and I find myself in a hospital room. I see a boy with the most green eyes and black hair sitting on a chair on the other side of the room. His leather jacket is dangling of the edge of the chair.

"Emma. You're awake." The boy says.

"Yeah, I guess I am." I say a bit confused. He walks up to me worried. Why would he be worried?

"Are you okay?" He asks. I assess how I feel. My head hurts a lot, my left arm is throbbing and my lip feels broken and cracked.

"I guess so. Can I ask you something?" I say.

"Sure anything." He answers.

"Who are you?" I ask confused. He's taken back by the question. I remain serious as he just stares at me.

"What do you mean? I'm Chase." He says. It is his turn to be confused.

Do I know a Chase? Maybe he's my cousin. Probably my brother. Yeah, let's go with brother.

"Are you my brother?" I try.

"No. I'm not."

"Cousin?" I try again.

"No Emma." His patience are wearing thin. I can tell.

"Are you family at all?" I ask. He shakes his head, upset now.

I pull my eyebrows together "Then why are you here?"

"Know what? I don't know." He says and storms out of the room. A few minutes later, a tall doctor comes in with a clipboard.

"Hello Miss Griffon. How are you feeling?" He asks, staring down at documents attached to the board.

"Okay." I say, very uncomfortable.

"Here's the news, you will get better, but you are going to be suffering short term memory loss. You won't remember anything that has happened in the last year or so." The doctor smiles weakly. My smile fades and a million thoughts run through my mind.

"How did I lose my memory?" I ask, curiosity dripping in my voice.

"You got in a car accident with your friend there.", The doctor confirms. I nod my head and lean back in the hospital bed.

"It's not any major long-term damage.", Doctor Alves assures me.

"Okay.", I say,"Can you bring him in for me?"

"Sure.", Doctor Alves says and walks out of the room. A minute later, Chase comes back in with his arms folded leaning against the wall.

"What now?", He asks.

"Are you hurt?", I ask.

"No.", He says coldly.

"Why are you upset?", I cock my head to the side.

"Because you just can't-know what? Forget it.", He says clearly frustrated.

"I-I...can you take me home soon?", I ask him.

"As soon as he clears you to leave.", Chase responds. We stay here in comfortable silence until the doctor comes back.

"When can she leave?", Chase asks Doctor Alves.

"As soon as I give her a routine check-up.", He responds. Chase leaves as Dr. Alves assesses the condition my body is in. When he finishes, he calls Chase back in and gets me ready to go. I throw on the clothes I had on when I came here and follow Chase to his car.

"Nice car.", I say. He chuckles.

"What's so funny?", I ask him cocking my head to the side.

"That's what you said the first time you got in my car.", He says while starting the ignition.

"Really?", I say more as a statement.

"Really.", He confirms.

"So, can you feather in the important stuff, because you seem like a guy I've been with a long time.", I say.

"Well...", He starts," You got into a car accident with me and you live at Green Gardens Apartments and yo-"

"Can I tell you something? I think I might've told you before. I feel as though I have.", I say.

"Sure. I guess.", He replies.

"I like you."

"What?!", Chase shouts.

"Didn't I ever tell you I kinda have a crush on you?", I ask thinking back.

"Um....Sure you did.", He says unconvincingly.

"And you love me back?", I ask.

"No, I don't love you back.", He says firmly. He literally broke my heart. I don't love you back... His words run through my head.

"Oh...", I say softly. He glances at me and starts to drive out of the parking lot.

We pull into the apartment complex and he stops at a set of building.

"Your apartment is right there.", He points to an apartment to the left.

"Goodnight.", I murmur.

"Whatever.", Is his response. I walk into the apartment and Olivia hugs me.

"Oh my god! I was so worried! Are you okay? I would've comes, but your friend there said it wasn't major and I shouldn't worry. He said he took care of it and I shouldn't worry. He insisted I stay here.", She rambles.

"It's okay. I'm okay.", I say smiling weakly. "I'm going to bed.", I say to her.

"Okay.", She say. I stand there awkwardly. I forgot where my bed was.

"Down the hall. Left door.", She says smiling. I could see worry in her eyes. I say 'goodnight' and walk to my room. I look around and just climb in my bed, too lazy to find where my pajamas are.
