Chapter 6

Athena POV:

Chapter 6:

I wake up the next morning feeling better. I was actually able to fall asleep yesterday. Also I haven't heared from Ava since yesterday afternoon.

I get out of bed then get into the shower, wash my hair, brush my teeth and get dressed.

Then I go downstairs and walk towards the livingroom area where my dad was watching the news.

"Look who's up and moving again." My dad says smiling.

"Morning dad." I say.

"Morning sweetheart." He says.

"Are you hungry." mom says walking into the livingroom with a plate of pancakes.

"Uh, yea." I say and right when she got close to me she tripped and the plate flies out of her hand them my body reacts and I automatically catch it.

That was weird, I've never been able to catch a football let alone a plate full of pancakes.

"Thanks hon." Mom says grabbing the plate from my hands and setting it on the table.

"Uh, your welcome." I say looking at my hands.

"Are you trying out for the cheerleading team this year." Dad says.

"I don't know, it didn't really work out well for me last year." I say.

"Try again, you can't give up that easily." Mom says.

"I guess." I say and then I hear something on the news that catches my attention.

"Riley Lent here and we are on the Memorial Bridge where 16 year old Chris Valley's body was found dead at the scene." The news lady says and my breathing stops. "We were told that he lost control of his car and swerved of the Bridge. The police are still not sure what caused him to lose control of his car but we will keep you posted. Sydney back to you."

"Athena, is that your Chris." Mom says and I don't respond I can't say anything and I don't know how to react.

"Honey are you okay, you don't have to go to school today if you don't want to." She says.

"Uh no, it's fine. Me and Chris weren't together anyways. I'll be fine see you guys later." I say walking out the house.

I don't know weither to be sad or mad or what. My emotions are all over the place right now. How are you suppost to react when you find out that your ex that cheated on you is dead.

Some people would say happy but that's far from what I feel. Is it a bad thing that I feel so much hurt for someone who hurt me.

Is it bad that I can't cry about it. My body won't let me, even if I wanted to.

I'm interrupted from my thought by the beep of a car horn. I look to the side to see Ella who had a look of worry on her face as she motioned me towards her car.

"Hey." She says when I get there.

"Hey." I say.

"I heard about Chris are you okay." She says.

"Yea, why wouldn't I be." I say.

"You do know that lying to your best friend won't get you anywhere right." She says and I sigh.

"I just don't know how to feel about this." I say.

"As expected, he broke your heart but deep down you still care for him. You can't just lose feelings for people that fast. It's only been a month" She says and I nod my head.
