Poland,  August 30th, 1939

The peaceful countryside of Poland is soon interrupted by the sounds as dozens of Panzers drove through towards the site of the first battle Die Wolfe would participate in, the Battle of Lodz. Hanz looked around to his brothers in arms and their weapons. Hanz himself had a MP-38, Ralph had a Mauser carbine same as Hedwig, Alfred, Werner, and Micheal, but Micheal had a scope on his. Frank had the MG-34 to provide support for the rest of the squad. After a minute or two, they were a couple meters away from Lodz. They and a few other Squads and other Wehrmacht divisions stopped and began to get out of their transport. They were going with out the Panzers as they were ordered to bust open defenses, not to get involved in urban combat. The German soldiers began rushing into Lodz, witnessing the blown out houses and the dead bodies scattered around the roads. Hanz and the others went towards the garrison with a few other squads, only to face a surrendering, beaten, and himulated Polish soldiers with scars from the recent bombing. Soldiers began taking prisoners to a house they designated as a prison house. Hedwig groaned at the site of the soldiers. "I was thinking they were actually gonna give a fight." He said.

"We you saw their state, they were barley able to fight." Said Werner, being a more sensitive person of group.

"And most of their forces were in different parts of the city to." Ralph said stepping in.

But the exchange was interrupted by Hanz who said, "There is still a few miles ahead of us, we are bound to see some form of combat." He beckoned the rest of the squad back into their transport. As they got in, they heard Werner's radio go off.

"We have a Panzers division stranded a couple of miles away from Warsaw, they need the 2nd Waffen-SS Division to move and help them immediately." Said the commander, most likely Franz. Die Wolfe knew they would be there, as they are part of the 2nd Waffen-SS.

The ground was filled with craters from the bombs of the earlier bombings and artillery shells from the Poles to stop the German advance. The Panzers barley made it but was soon subdued by a Polish tank division. Soon, most of the 2nd Waffen-SS (Those who weren't already in combat) arrived to a blown out scene. Around the mentioned carters are the usual Panzers and some Polish 7TP tanks. As they were out of their trucks and armored transports they began making their way towards the nearby hill where they were positioned. Before they could get there they were soon surprised by a few working 7TPs and machine guns in some of the craters and bushes. Some of the soldiers died, the faster ones dove into nearby craters, Die Wolfe was one of those. Hanz was with Ralph and Werner in a crater, Frank and Alfred in another, and Micheal and Hedwig in a different one. Frank with the help of Alfred set up the MG and began fired wildly into the bushes to try to kill any of them, even if he didn't kill any some did stop firing. Hanz got the phone from the radio and yelled, " This is Hanz from the 2nd Waffen-SS division, we are stranded near the Panzers and we need rei-." He was unable to finish before hail of shells and bullets roared towards the Polish defenders. As Hanz looked back he saw the some of the tanks moved behind them and started putting down heavy fire, while the others on the hill did the same. Soon, most of the 7TPs were down and the machine gunners were running. The tanks followed as the infantry ran back to their transports. As Die Wolfe got in they noticed the driver wasn't going. As Hanz looked into the drivers side, he found out that the driver was dead, with multiple AP gun bullet holes around his face. His jaw was fully dislocated, on the ground near his feet. Hanz swallowed a little bit of vomit, and got out to drag the body out of the vehicle. When it was done he stepped back in and said, "Any of you know how to drive this?" He asked.

Ralph raised his hand slowly while saying, "I do." Hanz told him to get in the drivers seat and to ignore the blood. A little of self- encouraging moments later he got in the seat and began to drive towards Warsaw. Hanz looked up as dozens of Stukas flew overhead. Micheal was still recovering from seeing him carry out the body and a jaw from that very SD.KFZ.

He looked towards the sky, put his hands together and said," May the Gates of Heaven let these poor bastards into the paradise city."
