The Blueaxe royal line, unlike most, does not have a very interesting history. Two centuries of their rule over Volatum was filled with peaceful agreement and unanimous votes. But at the dawn of the third century, things changed.
The queen had recently given birth to twins, Cameo and Lucai. Cameo with rich brown hair and grey eyes like her father, and Lucai with white-blonde hair and green eyes like his mom. Together, they were the moon and the sun, the light and the dark.
Then, on their thirteenth birthday, Cameo showed signs of the bloodline power. The heir to the throne recieves this power at eighteen--the power to persuade anything to do your will. This occurrence was a mystery to the king and queen, for they expected Lucai to be the one to inherit this power, and even then not at thirteen. They thought of it as a sign that she would be the greatest ruler they have had.
That was their fatal mistake.
She switched from etiquette classes to politics. Lucai continued to take these courses too, of course, for most people had their doubts about the princess. But she excelled in everything she did. Soon, everyone accepted that they were to be ruled by Cameo.
As her powers developed, however, she became less human. She would walk around, her eyes foggy, silently torturing others within their own minds. It got worse and worse, until the queen drew the line. While Cameo, on her and Lucai's fifteenth birthday, walked in a trance, her mother cried out and jumped on her, begging her to come to her senses.
Cameo subconsciously forced herself to drive an obsidian knife through her own mother's chest.
That day marked the end of the peace that had settled over Volatum. Small resistance groups came and went, while inside the palace walls something darker was happening. The bright gray of Cameo's eyes had dulled to a milky white, and her trances could last months. The king, whose mental condition had been deteriorating since the death of his wife, finally took control and exiled her. She was taken to the Graying, the section of the kingdom overrun by noxious weeds and savage animals. She looked the king straight in the eye as she was carted away. He committed suicide later that night.
The only person left to take the throne, Prince Lucai became King of Volatum. Without the power to keep the peace, will he make it as a ruler? That question bounced around the kingdom for the next year, along with other comments, like 'He's average,' and 'As normal as the rest of them.' But is it time for the peace to come to an end? Is it time to face the war head on?
"My name is Lucai Blueaxe, and this is war."

Hello all! So, recently I found a notebook from sixth grade, which contained notes on Ancient Egypt, spelling tests, and this. I honestly have no idea if this was for an assignment or if I was just writing it, but I fixed it up a little and posted it. I realized that this has been developing in the back of my mind ever since I wrote it, and the characters have almost fully developed. Hopefully I can post every Sunday, but forgive me if I don't. :) Hopefully you'll stick with me on this wild ride!
