Packing hadn't taken long, so soon after the argument was broken up by Jaime, I was sat in the Jeep once again, with Tony driving myself and Mike to the local airfield, where we boarded the private jet owned by Vic and Mike. The flight itself was comfortable, Mike keeping up a friendly conversation, and then telling me about the few things that we would do while we were in Michigan. One of them included selling my old apartment, and another was fishing out the last couple of pieces of furniture that I owned, ready to put into storage somewhere in their house. Apparently there was a huge room underground for maintenance of the pools and storage.

When we arrived in Michigan, Mike had a small car waiting for us, ready to drive to some hotel Tony had managed to book on short notice while we were packing some overnight bags. We had a double room each, complete with en suite bathrooms. We both decided to go straight to bed on arrival at the hotel, bidding one another good night once we'd gotten outside his room. I walked about another fifty metres through down the corridor to get to mine.

The following morning, I awoke early to Mike hammering on my door, telling me to get dressed and meet him downstairs for breakfast. Soon afterwards, I had showered, dressed and was sat eating a cooked breakfast opposite him in the hotel's dining room.
"So first stop is your apartment. Tony spent most of the night up getting stuff ready for us. There is a removal company coming to help us get all of your larger furniture out, and will drive it all back to the house. Once we're done there, it's straight to a company who are going to sell the apartment for you, and deal with all the viewings. I say that once we are done with all of that, it will be time for an early dinner which we can discuss last night over, then we could hit some clubs, have a good time. We'll be flying back sometime in the late morning, so as long as we check out for eleven then we should be fine." For some reason, I felt like hitting the clubs around here would be fun. I didn't have a huge amount of experience with clubs, having only attended with the two boyfriends I'd had since starting work at the diner a few time. Mike obviously had a lot more experience with them, and I trusted that he would show me a good time.
"It sounds like we have a plan. So basically not so drunk that waking up is an issue tomorrow, but anything less is acceptable?" Mike chuckled, nodding and grinning at what I'd said.
"Pretty much. I'll bet that you haven't been to a club in a while though. It's fine, I'll show you how to have fun in these places, it's easy if you know what you're doing, which I do."

Emptying my apartment took about an hour, since we had to pack everything away carefully ready for the long journey. There was only a bed, a few cabinets and a battered table and chairs set. Once the van with the furniture I owned had left, it was time to lock up again, leave the apartment behind forever, and take the two sets of keys I had, one for me and one that the lady on the floor below had kept, to the estate agent. Signing all the forms felt weird, like I was signing away everything I had worked so hard for over the past five years. It had to be done though, after the story Vic had left behind me in Michigan, and it took a while for me to go through all of the papers. Mike sat next to me, playing on his phone while I sorted everything. The woman who had wound up serving us then explained how the selling process would work, and then we were out of there again.
"Should we avoid the diner that you used to work in? Because its close to the hotel, but there is some other places around here that we could go to."
"Maybe not go there? I know a good little bar that does the most amazing Thai food in the city. My first boyfriend showed me it, and I went there whenever it was my choice of where to go for work parties and date nights with the few other boyfriends that I've had. It's about three blocks away from here, but it's in the opposite direction to the hotel and clubs." Mike just nodded, and motioned for me to lead the way, so I started walking in the direction of the bar.

On arrival at the bar, the owners greeted me warmly, having gotten to know me quite well over the past years. We took a table in the far corner, right away from the bar where it was a little bit quieter. They took our orders quickly, Mike not needing me to help explain all of the different dishes. I suspected he'd eaten a fair amount of Thai food, most people have to ask what each dish is.
"So you want to talk about what happened last night?"
"I don't think I have much choice do I?" Mike shook his head, confirming my suspicions. "Okay, well Vic came to my room to apologise for having a go at me over what happened with my Dad, which I accepted."
"Okay, then what happened? It must have been pretty bad, because you were both about to start throwing punches." I took a deep breathe, and began recounting the argument.
