I was shaking. No, more like the ground beneath me was shaking. My body rumbled from side to side and I groaned in agony. I realised it wasn't with my own will I was shaking, it was someone else. I opened my eyes, just to be greeted with face centimetres away from mine.
"Oh my, she's awake!" it yelled and the stomping of feet echoed in my ears. I rubbed my eyes drowsily and I feel a back on my hand, urging me to get up. I do, and my eyes meet pair of brilliant cobalt blue eyes. It was a boy, possibly my age, staring at me in relief. He has long, thick mops of brown hair that shifts to his right side. His features seem a little relieved, though his shoulders and posture is guarded.
"It was about time." Another voice cooly states, and I look up to see an older boy, with chestnut brown eyes and a wavy dirty blonde hair. He seems nonchalant about the situation and is leaning against a metal wall. His eyes are hard and stern, as if they have never experienced emotions.
"Wha-"
I'm cut short (yet again) by a girl bouncing up to me giddily, her large grin touching her ears.
"Azureey! Hi!" she exclaims, pulling me into the tightest embrace ever. I gasp for air as she eventually lets me go, unaware about her breathtaking (literarily) hug. She has long, curly, blonde hair, creamy skin and lively blue eyes. She looks like a hyper living Barbie doll. She bounces up and down as this 'surface' continues to rumble.
"Who are you..?" I state as all of them look at each other, confused.
"She's suffering a minor concussion. A side effect of the drug." another voice (yes i know, a lot of voices). I turn to see a tall girl walking towards me. She has platinum blonde hair and translucent skin an-
"Je..Jenny?!" I yell, recognising her stern expression. She grunts at the name.
"That was a fake. My real name's Tabitha." she says, flipping her hair off her face. It's not gracious or sassy as you probably presumed, it's literarily just to get rid of the hair in her face.
"Who are all of you?!" I demand as I stand up, inching backwards slowly.
"Half-siblings and full siblings." Tabitha states as all of them look expectantly towards me, as if I would burst into grins and say 'Just kidding, of course your my siblings'.
I have no memories of them.
"Yea, and I'm Mother Teresa." I furrow my eyebrows, hitting against the wall as I try to inch back. It rumbles against my back, sending vibrations down to my spine.
"At least your sarcasm is the same, sis." the brunette boy sighs as he skims his hand through his thick mops of hair. "And by the way, I'm your twin brother, Damien."
My heart plummeted down. Twin brother? I definitely didn't have a-
"And that's Jack, our...older half brother." he hesitates for a second before saying more confidently.
Jack flashes me two fingers (a peace sign, my brain says) before resuming to whatever the hell he was doing, which seemed like an intense session of staring at the ground.
"And this is Barbie, cough, I mean Whitney." 'Barbie' (Whitney) punches Damien's arm as he gives her an amused look. "She's our other half sis, but he's not related to Jack fully. She's another one of the witches-I mean our mother's poor victims."
Whitney laughed. "Mother, please! She's too low even to be a witch!"
My jaw drops to the floor. How could they say such a sinister thing about our...our mother?!
"How could you say that?!" I yell, and Jack shoots me a look that hushes me down. "She's our mother!"
"She's also very sly and manipulating, Azure." Tabitha the name clicked in my head. That was my name. Azure."She managed to get all our fathers with her annoying giggles and batting of her eyelashes." Jack said, anger rising in his voice, finally showing some emotion. "All of us despise her."
"What? What are you talking about?!" I demand, as all of them exchange looks with each other. I look at them, expectedly. I was so confused...
"All of us have one thing in common....our mother." Whitney said, her contagious smile instantly washed off her face.
"She married all our fathers, or had affairs with them." Damien mumbled, his face scrunching up in disgust.
"Wait...so you're saying all of our dads are different but mom is the same? How is that even possible?" I asked, and immediately I sense that I just stepped into a touchy matter. The air became tenser and all their expression had been replaced with anger and an eerie dullness. Oh god...What have I gotten myself into?
"You really don't remember?" Tabitha asks quietly, and I nod. I didn't remember anything. Anything at all.
"We ran away from our father, because he kicked us out." Damien said, his eyes stormy and cold as I gasp. "The witch left us faster than her usual pattern because she wasn't expecting twins." he says, fighting with his fingers and I gape. I wouldn't think that my...brother and I had such a dark past.
"Is our father okay? " I question, and he gives me a little shrug. Something flashes in his eyes, but it disappears too quickly for me to register what it was. But I don't let him go. I tap my fingers against my arms, letting him know i'm not leaving this topic without an answer.
"Hell, I don't know sis. Probably not that good though." he says through gritted teeth. I decide not to push the topic further, sensing his anger.
"Any more questions or can we all leave?" Tabitha said in a harsh but controlled tone."Yes...what are we doing and where are we?" I say, slightly irritated by her rudeness.
Another round of glances. Even Jack shared some with his..half-siblings.
"Well..." Damien began, but Jack cut him off.
"The siblings were kidnapped and held hostage." Jack bluntly said, as he closed his eyes. "By one of the witches victims."
"What?! Who?!" I ask mindlessly, and a long silence fills the room.
"We don't know." Jack blankly states, and I look at him in almost denial.
"And you plan on taking on this guy by..?"
"Riding unicorns into a sunset." he rolls his eyes but sees me do the same and says "Stupid, we're fighting back. We all were aware that we had many siblings but we haven't all met each other. We've seen each other a couple of times, and we share a common interest: hatred for the witch." Jack says confidently, a hint of annoyance laced in his voice. Oh god...
"So, we don't know the enemy and you think you can beat hi-"
"No more comments, please." Tabitha says, more of a demand than request. I bite my lip but decide not to say anything.
I guess people were right when they said curiosity killed the cat.
