Chapter 2

Chapter 2: Unfortunate Mall Experience

(Y/N) POV

The far back of the basement scares me.

Aphmau said to never step foot back there or I will be cursed forever. I don't know if she's lying to me or not but I'm not taking any chances. I slept on the couch in the living room for the night because Kawaii~Chan needed one more day to move out. I didn't mind, though, her couch is actually quite comfortable. Kawaii~Chan told me she was moving into a house closer to Reese~Senpai.

Kawaii~Chan moved all her stuff out early in the morning so I had time to put everything inside of the room. It was a small, cozy room, it fit me perfectly. The (F/C) bed sheets fit perfectly with the (S/F/C) walls. I put my clothes and some other things that I don't really plan on showing to people in the back of the closet.

To my surprise the doorbell rang. Taking the opportunity to maybe meet someone new, I yelled that I would get it. I cheerfully ran down the stairs and quickly walked to the door. I take in a deep breath and open the door, "Hi- Wait.. mom?" She smiles at me, her dimples clearly showing, "Hi honey. I'm so sorry, I know it's only your second day out of the house but I need some help." "Sure, what is it?" "I have to go to an important meeting really soon and I need you to look out for Ai." I look down beside her and see Ai with a grin. "What about the others?" "I split them evenly among your older brothers. I was going to send Ai with them but he wouldn't stop arguing that he wanted to be looked at after you." I chuckle, "Okay.." "I also have another request for you if you don't mind." "I'll take it, what is it?" "I need you to go shopping for me. We're running low on food and Ai is going to be playing baseball so we have to get some things for him." She hands me a list of things I needs to buy and quickly pushes Ai towards me. "I really need to go, thank you so much (Y/N)." "No problem mom." I waved at her as she left.

When her car was out of sight I closed the door and crouched near Ai, "I didn't know you liked baseball." He gave me a smile, showing the same dimples as my mom has, "I'm just trying it out for the year, it's not a forever thing." I return the smile and ruffle his golden hair, "Okay. I guess I should tell Aphmau I need to go shopping. I will be back in a minute, you can just sit on the couch okay?" "Yeah!" Ai gives me a thumbs up and jumps onto the couch.

I walk back up the stairs and knock on Aphmau's door, this time waiting for her to say it's okay for me to come in. "You can come in!" I turn the doorknob and open the door, "Hey Aphmau." "Who was at the door?" Aphmau curiously asked. "It was actually my mom, she needs me to take care of Ai while she has a meeting." "Oh, okay!" "My mom also gave me a list of things to buy because she was running low on some things so I'm going to the mall." "Shouldn't you wait until later? At this time the mall is super busy, trust me. I have made the mistake once. Never. Again." I laugh, "Well I don't know when my mother will be back so I think it's safer to get it now instead of worrying." "Hey Zane can you take (Y/N) to the mall and help her around?" I turn to look at a man with black hair and light blue eyes. He wears a striped gray hoodie that barely covers his mouth. "Why can't you do that?" 'Oh! He's that guy with the deep voice!' She huffs, "I'm kind of busy here." "Yeah righ-" Aphmau elbows him and then whispers something in his ear that I couldn't hear.

(For story purposes I'm going to tell you)

"Zane this an opportunity to make a new friend! (Y/N) is the perfect person to talk to! She's really nice!" "Sounds opposite to me.." "Just do it."

"Fine, fine, fine. I'll do it," Zane says out loud. Aphmau smiles and shoos us out of her room before I could say anything else. She shuts her door and locks it.. 'That wasn't necessary but okay.' I give Zane a heartwarming smile, "I'm (Y/N) it's nice to meet you." "I-It's nice to meet you too.." We both walk down the stairs and I quickly walk over to Ai, dragging Zane with me. "Ai this is Zane, Zane this is Ai." "Um.. H-Hello Ai," Zane says. Ai stares at him for a while then whispers in my ear, "He looks kind of weird.. is he safe?" I laugh, "It's completely fine Ai, he means no harm. He's actually going to help us around the mall since this hour is supposedly a busy hour there." He cautiously looks at Zane, "Okay.."

**At the mall**

We wandered around the mall trying to find a sports shop. I didn't know it would be this hard. Aphmau was right, this hour is busy.. very busy.I have been bumped into about 7 times now in the last 5 minutes. I tried my best to keep Ai close while keeping an eye on where Zane is at. It was hard to catch up to him since people decided to push but we made it through most of the crowd. Once we got to the other side of the mall I let out a sigh of relief. There wasn't many people here, it felt like heaven compared to the other side of the mall. "Umm..." Zane spoke. "What?" I questioned him while I held Ai's hand to make sure he didn't wander off. "I think we passed it." "How far do you think it is?" "I'm pretty sure it's where everyone else is unfortunately. We could wait for a while to see if the crowd subsides." "I think that's the best option for right now, but what do we do in the meantime?" "It doesn't matter to me, as long as it's not some annoying girly things."

Ai laughs, "Then you wouldn't like (Y/N) she has a whole collection of-" I quickly cover Ai's mouth and whisper yells at him, "Shut up!" Zane squints at me slightly as I give him a fake smile, "Why don't we just wait here for the time being, we could just stare into space if we want to." "Okay," said Zane, not caring what we did.

After a few minutes Ai started complaining about how long it was taking. I turn to him, "Fine Ai, what do you want to do?" Ai stopped whining and looked around until his eyes set on one place, "Lets go to the arcade!" I gave him a disappointed look, "Ai I'm afraid that would cost too much. Mom only gave me a certain amount of money." He pouted at me making me exhale. "I'll pay for it," Zane says without warning. "Yay! Thank you!" Ai cheers as he jumps around in glee. "Zane are you sure?" I look at him with cautious eyes. "Yeah it's fine, but you owe me," he responds. I grin, "Okay! Thank you Zane!"

We all walk to the entrance of the arcade but are stopped by some people. "Zane I didn't know you had a girlfriend!" Someone called out behind us. "What are you talking about?" Zane questioned. I swiveled around to see a man with white hair and light green eyes with another man that has light brown hair and astonishing light blue eyes. "Umm.. hello? You're hanging out with a girl other than Aphmau for once, of course she has to be your girlfriend." I glanced around to see no other girl but me around. 'They must be talking about me..' Heat rose to my cheeks when I realized that they were talking about me. "Why aren't we going in?" Ai pops up next to me. "WHOA WHOA WAIT.. ZANE YOU HAVE A KID?" The guy with the white hair yells. "W-WHAT? WHY WOULD YOU THINK THAT?" Zane stopped to calm down for a second, "Aphmau made me bring (Y/N) here because she needed to buy stuff. She's new here and doesn't really know her way around so I'm just used as guidance." "Oh," the man with green eyes says, "Well then that means she's free right?" He walks closer to me, "Why hello there fine lady, my name is Travis nice to meet yo-" "Get away from my sister you pervert!" Ai yells at the man before pulling my hand making me stumble backwards. "What's wrong? I'm just trying to play," Travis says innocently. "Well then you'll have to make it through me and my 7 brothers!" Travis froze and looked at me, "Y-You have 7 brothers?! How is that even possible?!" I sighed, "Actually I have eight. Five of them are adopted while my three older brothers were not." "I think we're done now," Zane says while grabbing my wrist and pulling me inside the arcade.

We played in the arcade for a while. Ai mainly focussed on playing the racing games since they were his favorite. As normal he asked if I wanted to play and I nodded. I let him win that round like a normal older sibling would, even if he told me not to. On the other hand, when Zane took a turn playing the game with him he sped into first place. Ai yelled at him saying that he was cheating. They were bickering back and forth making people stare at us. My face turns red with embarrassment. I decided that it was a good time to leave now so I dragged them both out.

"What was that for?" Zane hissed. I gave him an intense stare, my face still red, "Didn't you see? All those people were staring at us like we were crazy when you two were altercating!" Ai mumbled a 'sorry' as he held my hand. I exhale, "Let's just go and get the sport supplies." Zane nodded and led us to the sports shop. Thankfully, the crowd was not as big as before so we didn't have to fight our way in. We bought what was required and left without a word.
