The judge looked at the gray cat, inquiring.
"How do you plead?" He yowled.
"Guilty" the cat mewed, mischief glimmering in his blood red eyes.Jailbreak woke with a gasp. He shot up, bolt upright, chains clanking. He panted as he slowly took in his surroundings. Where was he? Stone walls, iron bars, chains... Then he remembered. The prison! He chuckled at the thought. They would never be able to hold him for long. He'd never been in a real prison before, but he'd found his way out of countless holding cells and other situations within a day. This is going to be fun! He thought, a grin finding its way to his face.
He paced around his cell. This is my first chance to show just how impossible it is to keep me behind bars. I have to do this one well. I have to make a plan... A plan where the last step is as easy as walking out unhindered... He thought, while looking at the lock on his cell. He craned his neck to get a better angle, but his neck chain reached its limit with a "chunk!" He turned around quickly, stumbling over the chains holding his forelegs together. I'm going to need a file... He thought, frowning. But how can I get one...?
He prowled around his cell some more, plotting everything: how to get out of his chains, how to get the key to his cell, and how to get past the guards... But it just wasn't coming together... He swiped a paw, claws unsheathed, at the cold, gray stone of the prison, yowling angrily. He stood, quaking in frustrated rage, when he heard something down the hall. He pricked up his ears, straining to listen.
He heard the voice of another cat. "-new prisoner under our watch." It said, with a hint of anger in its voice.
"B-but... They s-said our watch was... F-full..." Another cat replied. Jailbreak could smell the scent of fear in the air.
"I KNOW WHAT THEY SAID!" The other cat hissed, the voices much closer now. Jailbreak craned his neck. He could see two cats, a brown one with a knife and an orange one with a keyring. As they approached, the orange cat cowered behind the brown one. These must be the guards, he thought, going over his plan in his head.
"Welcome, new prisoner, to where you'll be spending the rest of your life. I'm Hawthorn, the guard around this part of the prison. And this is Thistle, the assistant guard." The brown cat yowled, gesturing towards the orange cat, whose entire left ear looked like it had been bitten off. "If you so much as THINK about touching him, or put a PAW out of line, I WILL kill you. You're NOT escaping under my watch."
Jailbreak grinned devilishly, looking from one guard to the next. He knew exactly how he was going to pull this escape off. He threw back his head and cackled, his pupils thinning to slits. "YOU THINK YOU CAN HOLD ME!?"
