Kylo's POV:
"That will be $24:35 please." I said with a fake smile plastered on my face. The customer handed me their money and I placed it in the cash register.

"I will have your drinks out in a moment, sir." He nodded his head in thanks as I moved to the back to start his drink.

"How're you doing Kylo?" My coworker/roommate, Hux, asked from his position at the counter.

"I'm fine... Thank you for asking." It was never like the man to ask about my personal condition during work, he usually never cared. I brushed off the change and focused on the task in front of me.

"Thank you for waiting." I said to the customer as I handed them their drink, smiling, they turned to the door. I sighed and began cleaning the various machines that cluttered the small room.

"Hey Zero! Your usual?" Hux called across the room as the now familiar ding of the doors bell echoed through the air.

"As always my dear Hux." A female replied, her voice deep and sarcastic, hot in a way. I dared not look at the stranger with no wish to be rude.

"Hey Kylo, we need a grande vanilla chai with an added shot." Hux yelled over to me. I turned only slightly and nodded my head, then moved to prepare the drink.

"So! How's life?" 'Zero' asked reaching the counter.

"It's life." Hux replied simply. I was just about to give the drink to this girl when I stopped in my tracks unable to move, completely lost in her looks.

She wore a molten grey sweatshirt with a dark red scarf around her neck. Her short black hair died in the front to fade into a light blue. She was short and slender, but she gave off a look that could kill. It seemed nearly impossible to take my eyes away from her gorgeous features. Shaking my head, I placed the drink on the counter.

"Why thank you sir!" She said over excitedly. I could feel the heat rise in my face as I nodded back to her. I quickly walked away and made myself look busy, most likely looking stupid in the process.

There was a slight pause, then the women clapped her hands together, making me jump.

"Well, I should head out. I'm almost late for class." She laughed and I could have sworn I heard a chuckle from Hux.

"Yeah. Don't kill yourself on the way!" I looked back over at Hux as he laughed out his words.

"No promises." Zero winked, halfway through to the door. The second the woman was around the building and out of sight, Hux leaned against the counter, smirking.

"What?" I asked, my face obviously reddening.

"You like her, don't you."

"Whaat? No..."  My face was now burning, I tried my best to focus on a different task but I could feel hux's gaze burn into my skin.

"Is there a problem with that?" My voice cracked. This was too much attention.

"Not at all, Ren." The seriousness in his voice seemed all too forced, even for him. But to my surprise he did not push the subject farther during our hours at work. Yet to my dismay Phasma brought it back up the second I entered our apartment.

"So I heard you met Zero today." Phasma asked from the kitchen. I groaned and glared at Hux. Did he really have to text her about it?

"What's the big deal about it anyway?" Throwing my apron over the side of the couch, I slumped down into its soft cushions.

"It's nice to know that you are going somewhere, Kylo."

"I'm not going anywhere!" I was getting irritated, I've never been one for attention. Just then Phasma charged out of the kitchen, her large figure now towering over me.

"You haven't so much as shown any signs of improvement since your father-" she cut herself off as I looked at the ground below her. "You haven't shown any reaction towards society or other people in a long time. It's nice to know that you're looking past it." Phasma continued quietly.

I let out a deep sigh, allowing my body to sink farther into the couch. It had been almost two years since the death of my father, and I have still yet to recover from the tragedy. The most I have done recently in my 'road to recovery' is get a job at Starbucks, as for social interaction, that is a whole different story.

"Who is she anyway?" I called after Phasma who had returned to the kitchen.

"Who? Zero?" She took my silence as a yes.

"Zero is... Well, interesting. I don't believe that she has ever had a boring moment in her life." I could easily tell that she was smiling, it was hard not to hear it.

"What does she do?"

"She is currently at school majoring in artistic design- she didn't say what part- while her job is teaching at the parkour facility on the other side of town." I sat nodding my head. She sounds pretty cool to say the least. But I would never admit that to Phasma or Hux. Especially Hux.

"How do you know so much about her?"

"Because she gets coffee every day." Hux jumped into the conversation, cutting Phasma short from her reply. "She just started talking to us the first day, turns out she's an amazing person." He paused. "I'm just surprised that you're interested in her."

"Why are you two so surprised? You guys started dating, why is it any different for me?" I was now standing in the kitchen, watching over the two. Hux and Phasma exchanged glances.

"She is very different from you." Hux continued slowly. "But I guess that shouldn't stop you from interacting with her. It would be a wonderful change of pace for you."

With that said I looked to the ground then slowly left the room, I couldn't bring myself to speak more for my emotional state was toying for a break. At times like these I had to wonder, how could I even be with someone if I can't even stand the people I share an apartment with?
