Anna turned back her head snapping behind her and her nostrils flared. Her eyes narrowed glaring. She scanned the horizon of the dunes. The hairs on the back of her neck prickled. Anna was tense and waiting for something. The silence agonized her as she glared.

She had gotten an odd feeling, it made her pulse rise and heart increase in pace. As she turned she felt a jolt in her instincts as her body was telling her to run. Flight or fight response.

But Anna saw nothing. She just saw the blue clear sky and the yellow sandy dunes colliding against the wavy horizon line. Her throat was parched and when she swallowed she could feel sand crumbs go down harshly. As she shifted her teeth trying to understand what the feeling was she could hear the grains of small, tiny bits of stone move around and scratch between her teeth. Her skin felt nasty and she wiped her cheek with the back of her rag tied hand.

"What is it?", asked Sammy turning and seeing she wasn't following anymore.

Anna stared not responding for a moment, "I don't know....you know the feeling you get when someone's watching you?", asked Anna.

Sammy raised his eyebrows, "You mean God?", he asked.

"Don't go all philosophical!", snapped our father hearing Sammy's question. He didn't really want to hear any priestly thing or deep sound advice right now. He just wanted the stranger to finally get to the place where they were supposed to be heading to. If this was a rouse then he'd be pissed off.

"Yeah, yeah, a man in fluffy wings is going to come down and save us", teased Sammy.

My father rolled his eyes. Sammy didn't exactly know when to shut up with his joking remarks. It was a flaw. Sammy was funny no doubt. Though I laughed at almost everything he blurted out he sort of let his mouth run before his head connected the actual meaning of "shut up".

"No not like that!", snapped Anna annoyed at Sammy too for that comment.

Anna stared out again, "It's more like....you know....when someone just watches you....like a stalker", she finished.

Sammy raised his eyebrows and my father turned staring at the horizon. He just stared quietly. He grunted not able to see anything. But he added wisely.

"Then we'd better get moving", he said.
