It was still well into midnight, and Corrin was deep in slumber. She must have been having a good dream, seeing as she looked cozy under her several layers of blankets and soft pillows. Not even a zephyr was stirring; it was incredibly calm.
For no specific reason at all, Corrin's dream seemed to push her away, and woke her up. Waking up for no reason... It happens to everyone once in a while, her being no exception.
Maybe a glass of water will help, Corrin thought.
Quietly, her toes brushed against the cold floor, then supported her body. The soft pattering of feet was the only noise to be heard. Making her way out of the room, she wended her way though the halls. The main objective was to get a glass of water, but things might go another way.
A door was slightly open, with a bit of light lining the hallway. Corrin gently peaked in and saw... Takumi? What was he doing up at this hour? Why was he sitting on his bed facing the deep blue ocean of a sky with such stolid expression?
He didn't notice the girl coming in and continued to watch the twinkling particles in the sky.
"...Takumi?" Corrin spoke. He did not respond. His chin merely rested on his hand, an indication that him being awake was not intentional, and that he was really tired. Though he spoke not a word, he did manage to make eye contact.
"Baby Brother, what's the matter?" she asked, almost in a whisper.
"...It was just a nightmare, nothing to worry about at all. Everyone has nightmares." Takumi finally responded.
"That may be so, but I don't think it would keep someone else from getting back to sleep for this long."
"I get nightmares all the time. Its just that this one was a bit more disturbing. It's not like these dreams will scar me, though... Unless... " he refrained from going any further. Corrin took it upon herself to hug her precious brother. She was hesitant, as she wanted to check if a negative reaction would be a result. Surprisingly, there was no resistance from him.
The moon peaked out and light scattered within the room. It made Takumi's silvery hair look even more shiny. After a while, eventually, Corrin felt arms wrap around her the way she wrapped hers. His head fell a bit, resting on his sister's shoulders for support. He was really tired.
Her fingers ran through his silver strands, stroking his hair, until he fell asleep. It would be troublesome if she were to be the reason he awoke a second time, so she remained with him. She propped herself up against the headboard with her younger relative in her arms, and she, too, began to sink into the dream world.
There will be a Chapter 2 probably.
For the sake of not getting in trouble, I must declare that I don't own anything from Fire Emblem and the companies it is affiliated with.
