"Aphmau, what do you mean by that? I thought you didn't remember anything before entering Phoenix Drop," Garroth said to me with wide eyes.
That's what I thought too. Turns out when I saw my father permanently resting, every memory returned. It's a very strange case, but I've heard that if a person has had a very traumatic experience then they can force their mind to forget.
"Bad father. Torment. Memories. Forgot. Face. Remembered," was all I managed to get out from my thought process.
"Oh Aph, I'm so sorry about your dad," Zoey ran up to me for a hug but I put my hand up signaling her to stop.
"I dont care about that man. Nor do I need any comfort. It is a shock to me that all this happened, but I'm not sad. If anything, a weight has been lifted from my shoulders," I smiled at everyone around me to show I was okay, but they only held worried expressions.
"What about your mother?" Laurence asked me.
A pang of hurt instantly hit my chest. My mother, I hadn't thought about her in years. She was always so kind. She never stood up to my father, but she always came and helped me afterwards. Back then, she was my everything--now I have all these people around me, and I couldn't be more grateful.
"She died when I was seventeen," I told them shyly, "I did love her, but she only seemed to care for me because I was practically my fathers work slave,"
"Aph, I had no idea you've been through all this, none of us right now has ever been through this. We're truly sorry," Laurence came to me and hugged me tightly.
I didn't push him back like I did Zoey. As soon as his arms were wrapped around me, I began sobbing uncontrollably. I guess I need the comfort after all. Garroth smiled gently and stared at the flame.
"What's wrong?" I heard Lucinda whisper to him.
"He hurt my Aph," he said. The smile was still plastered on his face but his voice was very threatening. Even Lucinda backed down a bit.
Laurence walked me back to his tent, saying he needed to ask me something. I agreed and went there with him by my side. I dont know why he couldn't just say it in front of everyone, but I guess that's just Laurence being Laurence.
"I wanted to ask you how you managed to forget," he asked me once we were there.
"I didn't want to," I smiled softly, "I guess my fragile heart couldn't take it--and my mind decided to spare my heart by forgetting,"
"I want to forget," he looked down, "I want to forget them. What I did to them. Everything. As long as I remember you. Then maybe I'll have a shot--with you,"
My eyes widened, "wh-what?"
"Laur-Laurence I--" he cut me off.
"Don't worry, you don't have to say anything. If you happen to remember how you forgot," he chuckled at that sentence, "let me know,"
And with that he exited his tent. Leaving me to my thoughts which were now filled with possibilities. Laurence wanted me all to himself. And Garroth, well, I dont really know what's going on with him--he's pretty hard to read. I guess that's what makes him exciting, you never really know anything.
"Aph," Garroth called me over, "come here please,"
I walked over suddenly feeling extremely dizzy, but continued nonetheless. He noticed me stumbling and creased his eyebrows. Smiling to show him I was alright, I continued.
"Are you alright?" He asked me.
I nodded quickly causing my head to ache. I stumbled slightly. Luckily Garroth caught me in time. I smiled in gratitude but silently cursed myself for letting it get to me.
"You don't look alright. You're as pale as a ghost and you keep stumbling like your knees have gone weak or something," he held onto my shoulders securely. My knees gave way and I ended up leaning fully on Garroth, "whoa whoa, ok ok, just umm--sit down,"
He sat me down and leaned my head on a wooden log we used as a seat. He sat down next to me and put his hand on my head. It felt cold.
"Lucinda!" He shouted, "Lucinda!"
I saw a blurry figure come flying out of the docked ship. Blurry. Everything was blurry. I looked up at Garroth. Blurry.
"Aph has a fever and she's having trouble standing," Lucinda instantly went into her purse and brought out another blurry item. I assumed it was medicine.
She took out a spoon and opened up what I assumed was the lid. Little liquid was pouring down onto the spoon. She closed the cap and opened my mouth. She lowered the spoon into my mouth, I swallowed. It tasted like honey mixed with chocolate.
"Give this to her every six hours for a minimum of three days. Her symptoms are pretty serious but I'm sure with some rest she'll be fine," Lucinda smiled and gave Garroth the bottle along with the spoon.
He nodded and picked me up. He carried me bridal style to Zoey's home and laid me down on her bed. Pulling up a chair to sit next to me, I could tell he was worried about me.
"G-Garroth, you don't have to--"
"Yes I do," he sighed, "what kind of guard would I be if I didn't?"
I smiled at him, "a pretty awful one,"
He smiled back, "I can't have you thinking that about me,"
I closed my eyes and drifted to sleep. My dream, or should I say nightmare, was almost too realistic. I was in the Irene Dimension, alone. Looking around me I realized that the place looked like an after affect of a battle. Probably Zane and Garroth. A deep voice sounded from behind me.
"Have you figured anything out yet?" I turned to find Zane behind me.
"Z-Zane," I started to panic, "g-get me out of here! H-help!"
"I won't hurt you, physically anyways," he chuckled and began approaching me.
Suddenly I could feel Garroth shaking me.
"Aph are you okay?! You were yelling in your sleeping," he looked concerned.
I nodded and smiled at him telling him it was just a nightmare. But I knew it wasn't. Deep down I could still hear a menacing voice. And I didn't like what it said.
"I'll settle for mentally,"
