It started with a fall. Not the fall, mind you, though I'm sure some literature teachers would be more than happy to point out the flagrant symbolism. No, this fall was much briefer and infinitely more painful. What it lacked in a ripping of wings and whatnot it made up for in the shattering of a child's very soul.
I do suppose it was a bit ironic that such an injury was bestowed upon me by my father. That's another word those immersed in the world of fantasy seem to enjoy: irony. But if I had to fall, I was damned sure going to drag the man who ruined my lives down with me. Sooner or later, that is. I could be patient.
