Chapter 8

Madison

26 days left.

I wake up and bounce out of bed. I regret it almost instantly because of giant bruise on my foot. I shake it off and grab my phone off the bedside table.

Good morning loser

She replies a few seconds later.

MADISON YOUR
OKAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to go get ready
for school, text you
when I leave -3-

I laugh and walk over to my closet. I look out my window to a clear sky and grab some jean shorts and a tank top. I throw a plaid shirt over top of it and leave it unbottoned. (A/N - hehe ;)

I get changed and walk into the bathroom to put on my makeup. I put on some eyeliner, attempting to make a wing, and some mascara before I plug in my straightener to heat it up. I look in the mirror and see movement from my bedroom window.

I lean out of my doorway to see a Turtle (my dog) playing outside. I smile and walk back into the bathroom

I straighten my hair and throw it up in a ponytail. I grab my bag and my phone and head downstairs.

"Good morning sweetie!" I hear my mom chime as I walk into the kitchen.

"Morning." I walk over to the counter and grab an apple. "I'm gonna walk to school, are you gonna be here when I get home?"

She sighs, "No sorry, I have a meeting so I'm gonna be home late."

"Okay." She always has 'a meeting'. Ugh. With that I walk out of the door.

I get out my phone and text see a text from Allison.

Okay, I'm just about
to go to class so I'm
probably not gonna
answer :'( Call me
when you get home

I shrug and start singing Break The Distance to myself when I feel a tap on my shoulder. I turn around to see a guy, about 6 inches taller than me, due to the fact of me being 5'2. As I look at him for a moment I realize how cute he is. He starts talking, "Hey, you have a really nice voice."

His voice is cute too ohmygod. "Th-thanks." is all I manage to get out before I feel my face go bright red. I look at the ground, hoping he didn't notice.

"Do you go to the high school near here?"

"Yes." I squeak.

"Cool. Do you wanna walk together?"

"S-sure."

We started walking when he starts talking again. "So, my name's Alex. What about you?

"Madison, did you just move here?"

"Yeah, I used to live in San Francisco but my mom got transfered here a couple of weeks ago, today's my first day actually."

"That's really far, I bet that sucks."

"Not really, I was home schooled so I didn't have many friends. I met most of my friends online anyways." I look up at him and his cheeks flush red. "Wait, did I just say that, um, I ment-"

"It's fine," I laugh, "I have internet friends too. I'm actually meeting one next month."

"Really? That's awesome!"

We talked the whole walk to school, and said goodbye as we walked to class. We have a few classes together - science, math, and art. Afterschool we walked home and once we got to my house I jumped on my couch to call Allison about my aWeSoMe day.
