"I've got a surprise for you Jennifer!" D.S told her excitedly. He grinned and Jenny couldn't help noticing his dimples and how cute they made him look.
She then snapped out of her thought bubble and replied with "what is it?" She couldn't think what it could be that made him so happy.
" it wouldn't be a surprise if I told you now, would it?" D.S said raising his eyebrows at her and before Jenny had a chance to answer back, he grabbed her hand and pulled her out of the school through the fire exit.

Jenny was surprised that d.s had brought her to the school tree. It was a huge beech tree with deep purple leaves and hundreds of branches that looked like arms swaying in the wind. It sat in the middle of the school playground and was famous to all the students.

Jenny was just about to ask why he had brought her here when he slipped one arm underneath her knees and swung her over his broad muscly shoulder. He then walked up to the towering tree and clambered up onto one of its gnarled roots. He hoisted himself up onto the lowest branch and began to climb., Jenny and all.

Up and up he went with Jennifer swaying upside down, hanging from his shoulder. She was too scared to say anything because she is scared of heights so she just hung limply. Though she trusted her dear boyfriend, she squeezed her eyes shut and vibrated with pure terror.

As d.s reached near the top of the grand tree, he leapt across onto a solid branch next to the trunk and placed Jenny next to him. "Well... Here you go" he whispered to her, handing her a pocket knife. She took it and looked confused. " well go on then... Carve our names into the tree!"
Jenny nodded and started to scratch their names into the thick, rough bark of the ancient tree. She calmed down and managed to steady her hand to write.

When she had finished, it read:

The letters were jaggedly cut but it looked cool and for the two lovers, it was good enough
