Chapter 21
I practically leaped over to the door and yanked it open eagerly. And once I did, there he was, Aaron, looking as gorgeous as ever.
Actually, scratch that. Aaron looked even better than usual, as if that was even possible.
“Hey,” he said after a minute of me just standing there, staring at him like an idiot, “Are you going to invite me in?”
Aaron was smirking, and I could tell that he knew I was in awe. I mean, I had been blatantly staring at him.
“Um, yeah,” I said, “Come on in.”
Aaron followed me inside, and he sat down on my bed while I put on a movie – The Notebook. It was my favorite movie, and believe it or not, Aaron liked it, too. He said it was only because Rachel McAdams was hot, but I was pretty sure I had seen him tear up a time or two when we would watch it together.
When The Notebook started playing, I sat down next to Aaron on my bed and snuggled up against him.
“So,” I said sweetly, “How was your day?”
Aaron shrugged and made a face.
“Eh, it was pretty boring…until now,” he said. “I missed seeing my girlfriend.”
Aaron grinned at me when he said that, and I instantly got butterflies in my stomach. I loved finally hearing him call me his girlfriend.
I smiled, and in spite of myself, I blushed, which Aaron seemed to find amusing.
“Well, I ran into our dear old friend Carly today,” I said bitterly. I expected Aaron to day something, but he just raised his eyebrows and waited for me to continue. Fine.
“She came up to me and started bitching me out, but then I told her to get over herself, and that she didn’t have a chance in hell with you, because you're mine.”
Aaron nodded and said “Nobody has a chance with me except for you, babe,” kissing the top of my head and putting his arm around me.
Aaron and I watched the movie, but when it got to the part where Allie’s parents were making her move away from Noah, I turned to Aaron and said, “If your parents didn’t approve of us dating, would you still stay with me?”
Aaron looked me in the eye and said, “Yes, of course I would.”
That was comforting, but there was still something tugging at the back of my mind, and against my better judgment, I dared to ask one more question.
“What if Laurane doesn’t approve?”
Aaron seemed surprised that I had asked that, but nonetheless, he nodded and surely said, “Yes, even if Laurane didn’t approve of us dating, I would still be with you…assuming that you would want to stay with me, of course.”
