Sometimes I think that I want to be a normal person. You have no responsibility, not saving lives, or even become a chosen one. You’ll only be worried about school, friends, sometimes family.

Maybe everything happens for a reason. But being a Vesperian is also good. You’re not worried about being bullied by some “ordinary” teenagers.

Anyway, my name is Edmund Grace. I’m only 15 years old. I came from a rich family and I’m the only child. I’m always lonely every time my parents are not home. My dad always had a meeting, and my mom was always going around the world, I guess, I rarely see her here in the mansion. She changed when I was eight. Let me define the word change to my mom: before, she always stays here in our house. She always cares for me and she’s the one who cooks food. Unlike today, I always call some restaurants and they deliver some food. For example: Monday-pizza, Tuesday-roasted turkey, Wednesday-Japanese food, Thursday-Italian food, Friday-French food, Saturday-Asian food, and Sunday-German food. Sometimes, I randomize my foods so I won’t get bored.

But you know I always miss my friends. It’s been many years when the last time I’ve seen them. I hope they’re fine. They are my only friends. I didn’t have to say goodbye at them when I was 8. That’s the time when things changed. I wish that they’re still the same.

Those things bring back my childhood nightmare I hope it’s only a dream but the fact is, it’s real:

When I was 8, my family went to Edinburgh Castle. It’s only a mile away from our house. My dad, he’s a business man he’s not that busy when I was 8 but now, he’s busier. My mom only stays at home, like what I told you.

When we got to the courtyard, it was full of flowers and fountains, and pine trees in both directions. There was a statue of Athena right in the middle and it was surrounded by a bed of tulips. It was a wonderful scene like you want to lie there and die.

“Son, when your time comes, people will look for your guidance.” My father said with a smile in his face like everything is going to be alright.

“Dad, what does it mean?” I asked him.

“When you found her and your time come.” He only replied and smiled again.

I really like my dad. Even though he’s busy in his work, he’s really cool. His black eyes like mine sparkles like a star and his warm smile really make me feel home. I didn’t talk for a while until we arrived in the hallway.

“Stay here darling. Your dad and I will meet your friends’ parents. We’ll talk about business. And we don’t want to be interrupted. Understand dear?” my mom said.

“Okay mom, can I play with George, Elizabeth and Agatha?” I only ask her.

“I’m sorry son, George and Elizabeth only. Agatha would be with us too.” My dad said.

My heart pounded a little. I don’t want to be far from Agatha. All I wanted is to be with her. I really wanted to see her even just a little.

“Don’t be sad darling, I promise, after this meeting, you’ll see her again.” My mom said.

     “Okay mom.” I finally said.

I ran in the hallway and went back to the courtyard. There I saw my friends. George is a very silent person but intelligent. He always knows how to deal with older people like he’s already old too. He got brown eyes and straight hair. He dressed like his father: a black tuxedo matching with black shoes and blue necktie. He looks like a kid wearing a butler suit than a son of a rich person. I guess you cannot blame him because that’s what he likes to wear. Besides that, he’s a year older than me, which means he’s the oldest in four of us.
