The moment the word "sorry" left your lips,
my inner wounds begun to heal.
Your words were enough to cut me deep,
I thought my wounds would never start to heal.
I realize we both changed from how we used to be,
and grew apart in such little time.
I bled out,
the pain etched clearly on my face,
and I had begun to slowly die.
I hid nothing when I broke,
and you must have noticed my blood around my feet.
You said "Sorry" and I felt myself begin to heal.
It wasn't much, but it's enough.
It's a start.
This forgiveness.
In order for my wounds to heal,
I must yield,
and forgive.
These painful memories will never leave,
"Sorry" isn't enough to erase the pain,
it remains.
No matter what you say,
I can't forget,.
Things will never be the same.
I can't forget how I broke,
At your words, and at your will.
How the pieces of my soul,
laid out in front of me.
I'll forgive you for the pain you caused,
But I can't forget the words that did more harm than good.
