The plan was to go meet Nikki's brother but we were almost to the neighborhood and became sidetracked. There was an Ice cream truck one street over and Nikki couldn't contain his excitement so we bought some ice cream and took  a walk in the park. "Are you delaying this meeting on purpose?" I asked. Nikki looked up at me innocently and muttered a "Maybe." "Nikki, come on. You want your brother's approval don't you?" I said. Nikki nodded saying, "But I'm afraid he might not like you. Like I have a weird feeling in my belly." "Those are just nervous butterflies." I clarified. Nikki's eyes got huge and he said, "How'd the butterflies get there? Did I eat them?!" "Oh no no no no Nikki, it's an expression. Uh, figure of speech." I clarified. Nikki calmed down saying, "OH." I nodded and we headed back down the street towards Nickolas' old house. "What are the crosses in the lawn for?" I asked. Nick said, "My parents. Now you know where my favorite colors come from."  I gave Nick a hug before saying, "I'm sorry." "Hey, It's okay I've gotten used to it." He stated as we arrived at the front door. Nikki knocked and we were there for maybe a minute before a girl with brown hair opened the door and tackled Nikki in a hug. Then she looked at me and giggled, "You must be Cody." "Jenny, where'd the handprint come from?" Nikki asked. I looked at the side of Jenny's face to see a purplish bruise on her right cheek. An outraged scream came from inside and Jenny flinched hiding behind me. "Who was that?" I asked. Jenny whispered, "Matt. He's been mean for the past month and a half because of his new boyfriend." "What about his new Boyfriend?" Nick asked. Jenny whispered, "He's a drunk and he really just uses Matt for sex but Matt can't see it and doesn't understand what his boyfriend is turning him into."
