"What the hell?!" she shouts. "Shit." I say silently. "Correct me if I'm wrong, but Niall picked me up and brought me to the mall. Niall kissed me. Not you." she spits. "Em, calm down." Niall looks surprised. "Em?" You've got to be kidding me. "Shut up, Niall. I'm tired of her and her crap." she retorts. "My crap?" I'm getting angrier than necessary. "Did I stutter?" she snaps. "No, but you're about to." I say raising my voice. "Excuse me??" she says, her eyes getting wider in shock. I usually don't speak up for myself, but she had it coming. "Did I stutter, Emily? Correct me if I'm wrong. But you must feel insecure because Niall is outside with me. Niall's arms were wrapped around me. Not you." I added emphasis to those words as harshly as I could. I look to Niall, whose facial expression is shocked, yet disappointed. How can he possibly be mad with me? When the Queen B walked out, trying to make me feel worse about myself?
Emily looked back at Niall then to me, with a defeated expression, and rushes back into the mall. "Emily!" Niall calls after her. "What the hell, Brie?" he turns toward me. "Are you serious right now?!" I retort. "You didn't have to be rude to her." he defends. "Niall. You have got to be kidding me." He will not win this argument. I did nothing wrong. "You know how she is." he replies. "You're so sprung over her, you don't see this skank is just a rude girl who can't keep her legs closed for anyone in the entire school!" I say before realizing what I said. Niall's eyes grow wide and he stands there speechless. "Niall.." I say softly. Despite anything...he likes Emily...I shouldn't have went there. He turns away and heads back inside the mall. I can't let him go, not like this.
"Niall!" I call after him, running back inside the mall. "Just go." he says quietly as I catch up to him. He's just staring at the ground, not making eye contact with me. I step in front of him, blocking his path. "Niall, please. I'm sorry okay?" I say out of breath. Niall still doesn't look at me. "Niall I didn't mean it." I lie. "You did. Despite how rude you are, you're honest." Ouch. He really is upset. "I'm sorry.." I plead. "Me too." he replies, walking. "Are you seriously going to let her come in between us?" I practically yell, causing him to stop and turn around. "Come in between what?" he retorts. "You keep acting as if something is between us. We're friends, Brie. We were best friend's." Were? "But you can't seem to have some respect for the one girl I seem to really like." he continues. "You just met her!" I manage to say. My eyes are starting to sting again. "We've been dating for two months, actually." "Two...Two months?" I say quietly. "Yup. I have my secrets too." he replies coldy. What's that supposed to mean? He turns to walk away. Before I have time to reply, someone behind me yells my name.
I turn around to see Camryn....an angry version of my bubbly older sister. "Do you know what time it is?" She snaps. I look at my phone, which is on silent, to see that it's 10:30, and I have 10 missed calls and 7 texts from her. Oh god. "Cam--" I try to explain. "No, Leanne. I ask you to keep in touch with me. One thing, and you can't do that?" she retorts. I know she's pissed if she used my middle name. "There is no reason why mall security is looking for you of all people, just because you can't have the decency to look at your freaking phone." she continues. She's acting like she's my mother. "Calm down." I say, my eyes never leaving hers. "I'll be calm when you learn to be responsible!" She's making me upset. "Responsible? Camryn, get over yourself!" I reply. "You get over yourself, Brielle! You always have an attitude with me lately. Whatever your problem is, get over it!" she yells. I notice we're still in the mall. This is not the place to argue. I go to walk out of the mall, ignoring her presence. "No, listen to me." she says following me. "Leave me alone, Camryn." I retort. She's 21, acting like she's my mother. No thanks. "You know what? I'll be glad when you find a boyfriend. Someone who can take your mind off of being such a selfish brat." she spits.
I'm so glad we're outside now. "Excuse me??" I yell turning around. "Maybe if you learned to be an actual sister, and not sleep around with my boyfriend I wouldn't come off as such a selfish brat! You're little miss innocent. Wrong. You come home every month, when I wish they wouldn't let you off the fucking campus grounds. I can't stand you Camryn. You're not my sister, just someone who happens to have the same last name as mine." Her face loses all color. The day I found out Aspen cheated on me last year with Camryn killed me. I loved him. I always blamed myself for what he did. I always thought because I never let him take my virginity, that he went to another girl. I could easily avoid him. But Camryn? She's my sister...I've never forgiven her for that. She should be thankful I accepted her crappy invitation to the mall.
"You...you knew?" she managed to whisper. "Obviously." I state. "Maybe the next time you go to a freaking frat party and have sex with the younger brother of the popular Frat boy, make sure he doesn't have a live stream of the performance online for everyone to see." I knew that would hurt her. She had to transfer schools after that, she attended Columbus State before the incident. She convinced my mom to let her go to a school closer to home, because she missed being away from family. My mom believed it.
She's crying now, but I don't care. Aspen went to visit his very popular brother, Brent that night at his party...and that's when it happened. He never told me the truth, I happened to see the video that was shared on Facebook, two weeks after it happened.
"Brielle, I was drunk I'm sorry..." she sobs. "I didn't know he was going to be there, but he blended in. I was just hanging out with him to make sure he didn't do anything stupid." she explains, still crying. "Well he did do someone stupid, didn't he?" I say looking at her. She bites her quivering lip, and her eyes are blood shot red. It hurt that she never planned on telling me. Whatever, it's over now. "Just go home." I say quietly and walk away. She doesn't stop me, which I'm thankful for.
